You may remember me posting about squat problems before, and I believed (and bignate/supreme confirmed it) that it could be from chronic tension in certain areas.
Lo and behold, the biofoam roller does it's magic again...I have tremendous trigger points in the glute area, that I didn't catch before because I didn't experiment as much with leaning to emphasize certain areas of the glutes (which was silly on my part by to my credit I didn't know there was a problem there when I was doing the other roller work). After working on those just tonight my hamstring flexibility has increased by inches, instantly!
I also have HORRIBLE tension in the lower to mid back, which may be an overly tight quadratus lumborum, I'm not sure but whatever it is I'm going to be lying on that roller for quite awhile. This lower back tension could be another big factor in my hip pain.
Guys, I can't emphasize enough how much this simple tool has helped me. Get one! It's prehab/rehab value cannot be more highly recommended. I got mine at performbetter.com.
In the search for a better/stronger body, 50% of the battle is building a physically "correct" body. And for the hardasses out there, take my word for it, some of the rolling maneuvers hurt like nothing you've ever felt before.
