Morbid, but serious question for Spartacus.

Timeout? No, timeouts are for Plats
I work 40 hours a week with the same partner. On a local radio station they were talking how on a chicken farm dead chickens when buried will blow up because their rotting flesh converts to methane gas (?).
If a human body is embalmed does that prevent it from developing methane gas? Or is there some other reason corpses don't blow up?
Thank you.

and just how do we know that the burried chickens explode?
I mean there has to be somebody that actually hears something and says, "What was THAT!" and then another wise person who says, "Oh, that just the damn chickens exploding again." WTF!!

ANY dead body can potentially explode during the decomposition process. Since preservation (formaldehyde) stops the decomposition process, then embalming keeps bodies from blowing up.

Now, my question, why preserve a dead human? Seriously. Better yet, why preserve it, then stuff it in an expensive box, then bury that box at least 6' under the ground inside of another cement box. What the fuck are we saving them for?!? Even if we could dig them up, they're no good to eat, what the hell are we saving this shit for.

hold over from the ancient supersition that preserving the physical remains is somehow related to continuation of spiritual life.

I agree though. We dont have the dust in our bedrooms even though it's mostly our own dead skin.

Oh holy shit, thank the Egyptians! It never occurred to me!

Well, LOL at any Christian who has their body or the bodies of their loved ones embalmed and buried for observing pagan rites :FRlol: I know Jews don't do that ... too fucking funny :lmao:

Humans would make good compost material. :worried:

They have Green burial lands down in SC, where they do not embalm you and they wrap you in a biodegradeable bag , so everything returns to the earth.. Its pretty neat...

Why do I picture this operation being run by Whole Foods?

That's what I want for me. What comes from the earth is supposed to return to the earth.
I'm pretty sure here in Vegas a concrete box in mandatory - even for Jews.

Oh yea. The chickens weren't jut exploding, they were catching fire also.

So the corpse isn't stinking and bloated for the funeral.

Not me man - I am being burned to ashes and dumped in a lake for fish to eat. That is just a total waste of resources.

Why do I find this image of graveyard turned minefield hysterically funny? :p

I want to have a big party when I die, with me as the center piece. The only catch is that my body will be stuffed with explosives and just at the right time in the party, I want to be blown up all over everyone.

That way, everyone can take a piece of me with them.

And maybe take out a few assholes too? Cool.

You'd need some sort of ignition source wouldnt you?

This green burial stuff is NEAT! You can be your own funeral director and everything. Cheap, too, comparable to a standard cremation:

It is pretty cool actually and how I have always wanted to be buried.

Bury my body and instead of a headstone, I want a tree planted, haven't decided on the tree yet. But my body would fertilize and feed the tree as it grows. My friends and family can come sit under the tree in shade and have a picnic instead of going to a cemetery and leaving flowers to die. My grandkids can climb in the tree, hang a swing and have fun, instead of some solemn visit to a cemetery and a scared view of death and their own mortality.

I don't know about the chickens, but I've seen painters place soiled rags pushed in a bucket that caught fire. Firemen said that the oil/paint in the rags along with them being pressed together generated enough heat to cause the fire.
