Actually, joking aside, that's very insightful and true.

I'd send you all my money, but as far as I can see hubby and I are going to be broke in four months anyway so we might as well live it up with what we have left :lmao:

I am living proof that all the money in the world can not buy one moment of true happiness. Having said that, I have been homeless and have a nice home. I've busted my ass to barely survive and also haven't had to work to eat. I been sick as a motherfucker because of lack of health insurance and now manage my health quite well with medication and regular doctor's care. I've spentless hours stressing, alone trying to figure out how I would do right by my girls and now I spend hundreds of thousands of dollars just for THE CHANCE to be in the same room with them.

Poverty sucks ASS... Anyone who says any different has just never been poor.

PM my husband, Grumpy Old Man, seems like ya'll have some stuff in common... Lookin for an excellent investment opportunity? Do you ever do private placements?

Anyone who believes that money cannot facilitate happiness should try being poor for a year. I think you will find that you miss your money and although money may not "buy happiness", it is easier to be happy when you have money.

why would your husband be a good investment oppurtunity? and no I do not due to Regulation D...I still in legal boundries with contracts to the DoD and private corporations...I serve only Americans and American approved clients such as NATO countries and African countries...some in South America.

money is everyhting as housemusik stated...
wihtout money your nothing...i grew up in a trailer park and in nw detroit... i now live in a oceanfront 2 bed condo have money and no needs..never would i give up money again..fuck being poor...not for me..id rather be rich and live alone then poor with a family...
no love needed, just money i have no heart

Money buys superficial happiness. In the end it doesn't last, so you need to buy more, get more, acquire more. It's why rich people are never rich enough, famous people are never famous enough. Material success has nothing to do with emotional/spiritual happiness. The wellspring of true happiness will never be found in your bank, purse or wallet.

I don't even need that much anymore. I have it down to the penny: $115,000 and my husband and I wouldn't have a cent of debt (including the house).

I don't need either... want is a different story for me. I'd like a new car, house... etc. But right now I am making due with what I have. the only bill I have is my personal things... food etc and My insurance. Everything else is paid for.

A. Why would someone who is in the business of security give that much information out about themselves on a website, it doesn't compute. People who are in the business of secrets are naturally secretive.

B. My son was an E1 in the Airforce and he made a goodly bit more than $5,000 a year. I find it very hard to believe a Navy SEAL gets paid less than $100 a week.

I lived in my mom's house too.

That is my second job, BM makes me work all but the 4 hours I get to sleep on the bus to my third job.

Glad I can help yet another Lady

:verygood:

Your help is kindly appreciated. I'll bake a cake for you tonight...

This actually sounds like the perspective of someone with an obsessive personality disorder. Why would you feel this same type of person would find that not owning anything would make them happy? Why would they not simply rationalize how they do not have enough "spiritual/emotional" elements in their life to truly be happy?

I didn't say "... same type of person would find that not owning anything would make them happy?" And considering you don't know me from a hole in the wall your implication that I have the perspective of a person with an obsessive personality disorder is pretty harsh.

Name calling aside, I said money is not the key to true happiness and implied that anyone who thinks that money can/does or will make them happy is living a fantasy. That's tatamount to saying finding the "perfect house" the "perfect car" or the "perfect wo/man" will make you happy. IT WON'T, ever. You might find transient satisfaction in those things/people, but in the end, if you are NOT happy with YOU, you'll NEVER be happy, period.

Happiness, true happiness, comes from within, period. Circumstances can impact your mood transiently, but to be truly content? That's all up to the person.

I've never, in my life, met a happy rich person, they are always looking for something better, angling for the best leverage, trying to get something from you, thinking you want something from them. I have met many people who were of average or below average income levels and quite happy. Yes, more money would make things "easier" in their lives, but they wouldn't be happier. The greatest satisfaction in life comes from surrounding yourself with those things you cannot buy or measure: a truely loving relationship, health, loving friends and/or family.

Money cannot buy happiness. It can buy objects, possessions, even an image. All of this can create the illusion of happiness, but if rich people were happy they wouldn't take drugs, need rehab, commit suicide, have affairs, get divorced or end up with adult children who are enormously emotionally/mentally screwed up.

I dont think the being rich part has as much to do with HAPPINESS as it has to do with being able to live comfortably within your means. Happiness comes when you dont have to stress about every little thing all the time.

I am not rich by any means but I am comfortable. I can pay my bills and still have fun, without worrying. Just a few years ago I was on the other end.....

So you want to know why I post this much stuff on security....well first its advertising...and I have picked up already 2 employees on a website just like this and may just obtain soon from here. Also I only go paid about 5,000 a year because I was only able to be in it for 5 years seeing that my parents both died while I was off duty and my brother offered me a job for my specialty...Im not being cocky im just putting out the facts...airforce and navy are both completely different....as in standards of living and payment...trust me.

Oh and frisky...how much you down for...One of my friends is an excellent investor....his assets jump like 10 fold everyday (not really but in a way) I could reccomend him for you. All you need is a few thousand

I agree with muslce mom on the statement she made ^^^^^^^ up there...but your avatar is kinda scary....you wiccan?...cause I went to salem mass one time..maybe I could see you there =D

There are many pagans throughout the nation, not just in Salem. I've visited Salem but I don't live there. If you're thinking of Laurie Cabot and her people, generally speaking they consider themselves witches. The tradition of Wicca I belong to calls itself syncratic (meaning, drawing from many sources). I actually don't consider myself Wiccan so much as pagan who practices and studies Wicca and belongs to a Wiccan coven.

Personally I love my avatar. I particularly get a kick out of the elemental symbology.

its intresting....I once knew a wiccan believe it or not...then he kinda disappeared...here one day gone the next..kinda odd...you people have like teleporting? lol

I never implied that you have an obsessive personality disorder. I implied that someone who "never has enough" of something has an obsessive personality disorder. By virtue of the fact that you take the perspective that money cannot buy happiness and do not engage in that pursuit would mean that I made no such accusation of you.

In all frankness I believe your perspective to be a completely incorrect stereotype of what you call rich people. My father completely fits the description you give of the "unhappy rich man". He's always angling, driving for bargains, and obsesses about how to finagle money from others in business deals and he is entirely happy doing it. I feel confident in asserting that he would be a much less happy person doing something else. To sweepingly state that people can't be happy pursuing material goods, purchasing material goods, and accumulating wealth is short sighted. Perhaps the wealthy people you know and refer to are unhappy, but the majority of the wealthy people I know are very happy. Do you know poor people as a group to be more happy than the rich people you know? I've yet to meet a happy poor person. I'm unfamiliar with the suicide rates comparing the rich to the middle class or poor. I'm not familiar with any widespread statistics based on economic class, but in my experience poor people abuse drugs, especially alcohol, much more often than rich people despite the fact that rich people have more disposable income. I also wonder how you know that rich people's "illusion" of happiness is not actual happiness. Isn't happiness a state of mind? Isn't happiness self or internally generated in your opinion? If they believe themselves to be happy, are they not happy? The other question I would have for you is, "What is the solution?". If pursuing all of these material things are not making the suicide prone, drug abusing, adultering, and poor parenting upper class happy what would? People in the upper class have friends, relationships, and the health which they do buy by virtue of better access to medical procedure.

I've met a lot of drug-addicted, miserable, mentally imbalanced poor people and I've met a lot of the same who had some cash. When you have money it is *magically* OK to be drug-addicted, miserable and mentally imbalanced because having your driver pour you into the lush surroundings in a beautiful home is waay better than pulling a newspaper overyourself as you crawl into the cardboard box that you stole from the next homeless dude. Isn't it? 'Course if you don't find ways to keep making that kind a dough you may just end up sharing that cardboard box with a coupla other homeless peeps who once had a few bills.

I've also met some wonderful people who have great means that they've earned from nothing and guess what? Although they were happy and very nice people they were *afflicted* with the same difficulties that *the rest* of the planet is, even had some others that those without such a station in life can't understand. When you come from nothing and then you *have a little* you quickly learn that regardless of how nice or good you are MOST PEOPLE will want to fuck you. Why? Because they think to themselves, "You can afford it." You think that hurts that person with the money any less when they realize this? It does not. Makes them jaded and guarded. EVERYONE treates you differently when they *think* you have a few dollars in your pocket. So why not live in a one bedroom apartment and wear clothing from the Good Will? The answer is, "If you have earned the money that buys you the things that you want, then why NOT buy them?"

Hell, we were in the Good Will just yesterday. LOL

... but then again, we are hardly wealthy. We just like to support a wholebuncharandomscumbagattorneys. :)

Money does NOT buy happiness. Matter of fact it brings with it a whole other set of problems that those who never had any can not begin to understand. Money DOES CHANGE THINGS... That is why, I believe, that you have to make a choice once you are becoming successfull. Either change on the inside to accomodate all that you will need to deal with that comes with the money. Or simply give it away. If you can't handle it, money WILL make you miserable.

Me, I'd rather have money and learn to deal with the headaches that come along than go back to being on the street.

It's the hunt, not the kill that makes me happy.

It's the road to collecting and hoarding money that makes me happy, not the final destination of having it.

Everyone is so worried about being happy... man up and get shit done. If you're busy enough you'll forget about the bullshit that society makes you think is happiness anyway.

never open a line of credit yet you borred money to start a business..what makes it ok for you...

and if you dont open a line of credit how do you build credit history? how do you buy a house? a car? without credit history in america your worthless..

Well, I have read these posts without saying much. I have also read previous posts made by the same person.

Either I am stupid or this guy has a formula for being less than 30 and being a king.

I would sure like to know how I have called a few people in NJ and NY to inquire. They haven't gotten back to me.

Hell I am just a poor country boy trying to get along. Hope he can gift me a few hundred thousand to make my life better.

my brother lent me 5 million dollars...i never took it out of a bank you dumbass...I guess I am one in a million for surviving without credit...oh wait the people that opened credit and took out loans they cant afford are getting screwed right now.....thats funny because I am laughing at them over my 599 that I TOOK OUT IN THE SNOW YESTERDAY....sorry I get angry about people that are really stupid...I am not saying your stupid I am saying that people who take out loans that cant afford them are stupid...

if you are implying me what the formula is....i have none...SORRY EVERYONE IF I WAS A HARDASS )=...i am really not mean I just kinda get angry easily and rant...but do you wanna know what the formula is...do what you love and you will find a way to be successful...so many people in the world have been screwed by big corporations...so distance yourself from them...no loans or anything and set up a business of what you are good at and love...thats what I did and I know many people that also have done that too.

You seem to have misunderstood the post you are responding to.

If you had no loan from your brother, where would you have obtained the capital to begin your entrepreneurship? The same place as most others, I would assume.

There is no *one way* to become successfull. So far there are only characteristics that those who have become successfull share, ie unbreakable spirit, uncommon thought processes and the ability to adapt and continue to move ahead regardless of what that means. <---not a lot of people can continue to be this way when life circumstances grinds them down. And once you get there A LOT changes... EVERYONE treats you differently, and it is not all good. Matter of fact, it's sorta shitty. Then you change the way you treat them and then they call you "uppity ass"....

Not a lot of people can go through this sort of process and remain unchanged.

I suppose it all goes back to perception, doesn't it?

Okay, I'm going to point out the obvious here: It's all fine to sit in judgement in your ivory tower when you have a) family willing to help you out; b) family capable of helping you out in such a generous fashion.

Maybe I'd own my own multimillion dollar company, too, if I had a family member in the position to loan me millions to get started.

Most people end up in debt because without credit we couldn't live in today's society, even if that only means financing our car or house. Hooray for you that you got a generous leg up, but what gives you the right to look down your nose at the rest of us who have had to pull ourselves up by our boostraps from day one. Do you think everyone has a millionaire relative just brimming over with goodwill? Some of us don't have relatives at all or if we do they're putting their hands into out pockets.

The fact is, the majority of us are often lucky to manage keep a roof over our heads. It's not because we're lazy or stupid, it's just life.

i dont really like to point fingers..but this just doesnt add up at all...someone in a position like this would carry themselves completely different..but i could be wrong..odder things have happened

You cant have everything anyway. But if you have a lot of money you're one step closer thats for sure.

" You say that money isn't everything , well i'd like to see ya live without it "

Someone reminded me in a K note to volunteer THE FACT that my husband was a BROKE DICK DOG when I married him... oh yea, another interesting tidbit that few know... when I married him he was accused of a disgusting crime that he didn't commit, a crime that defamed his character and made it almost IMPOSSIBLE for him to work... but here we are, over two years later, 40K+ to scumbag attorneys, but shit... the charge FINALLY got dismissed.

Don't help me pay the rent though, do it.

Now, all we gotta do is come up with a coupla more K to give yet another attorney to sue the bitch who did this to him and then I am thinkin we will have enoug money to pay MY attorneys to MAYBE begin to right all the bullshit perpetrated on me... AND for us to move out of our cardboard box.

Ya'll know anyone that could lend us 5 mill? :whatever:

It's the hunt, not the kill that makes me happy.

It's the road to collecting and hoarding money that makes me happy, not the final destination of having it.

Everyone is so worried about being happy... man up and get shit done. If you're busy enough you'll forget about the bullshit that society makes you think is happiness anyway.

Society defines happiness as love, success, stability and some other similar notions...how would your definition of happiness be different?

Often times, money is a measure of success and financial stability. Money is not everything, but it is a lot easier to be happy if your kids have food on their plate and a warm roof to sleep under. It doesn't matter how much you think you are in love and have a meanigful relationship with your family, if you don't have the basics and are too poor to live a healthy life, then no my friend....you will not be happy.

I have been rich for a short period or time, and I've been poor for a short period of time. Now I'm doing well. People who say money does not buy happiness have either never experienced being piss poor or have never had so much money to the point where they don't know where they're going to have lunch, paris? rome? dominican? These are two extremes, but it is def. way easier for you to be happy and bring happiness to the people around you if you've got money.

You can listen to all the absurd poetic mambo jumbo about happiness like:

"If there is to be any peace it will come through being, not having."
Henry Miller

"The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven."
John Milton

"The happy think a lifetime short, but to the unhappy one night can be an eternity."
Lucian

"The surest way to happiness is to lose yourself in a cause greater than yourself. "
Unknown

Sure, these are all noble notions, but when you're piss poor and you see the skeleton in your children's chest and hear the grumpling of their tiny stomaches because all they've had to eat for the past 3 days is a few green olives and a loaf of bread, which they split with you, then you will realise the importance of money and how money can make you happy.

I would like to see you man up when you have a wife and kids and you feel helpless because you can't provide them with their simplest human needs - food seems like a distant memory, shelter - a dream on a beautiful summer's night and notions like security, stability and happiness become illusions caused by the lack of alcohol and a pin away from your last shot.

Show me happiness then Mr. tough guy. Show me happiness in a grain of sand. Show me happiness in a ray of sunshine. Show me happiness in the way the sun casts its shadow on a still body. All illusions which you are welcome to enjoy when you've got money, but when you're kids are starving and you haven't had a bath in days because you have to make the connection from the 2nd to the third bus to get accross the city in time for your third job and not risk being fired, then you show me happiness in your noble notions or Shakesperean connotations.

I cant tell you what happiness is, alcatraz. I dont know.

me neither man...I know everyone else's definition of happiness, but it seems every time I get close to attaining what I think or feel will make me happy, I move two steps back.
