http://bittervibes.blogspot.com/2006/11/are-black-mothers-ruining-black-men_27.html

Maurice's mother seems to have the disease that plagues many single mothers in the Black community- the "my son can do no wrong” mentality. Maurice Clarett is doing time yet his mother seems blatantly unwilling to let her son take responsibility for any of his actions on and off the field. To her and many other single mothers in our community, our Black males can do no wrong and when they do, it's never their fault. Reading her comments made me wonder if Black mothers are ruining their sons

This kind of attitude goes beyond my building and beyond Maurice Clarett's mother. A lot of Black mothers are raising a generation of young men who have begun to take on female traits. For instance, young Black men have developed an oversensitivity to criticism that's common when a female is about to get her menses. It starts at home and it starts with their mothers. Mama thinks any criticism of her precious son is a personal attack on her and her parenting or lack their of. Instead of getting to the root of why their sons may or may not be acting out, they cradle them, they coddle them and a little girl in the body of a male is created. The problem is this little girl takes no responsibility for his actions and his mother is willing to sit by and only be concerned with why she's sitting in the end zone at her sons game.

If you are a single mother and this does not apply to you, then you need not get upset...

Maurice's father,Myke was divorced from Michelle Clarett when she was 25 and their 3 boys were ages 2 to 5.

he had the world by the ass. it's hard to keep these guys away from the friends they grew up with, that's where the problem is....

remember the Fab 5 from U of M? or the "Flintstones" from MSU? i was thinking of them, they would always be on the scene of raids and the like. hanging around the friends from the hood. can't stay away. Jalen Rose, Chris Webber, Mateen Cleaves, etc...

the article really didn't portray his youth(he's only22) as a thug life
about a third of it focused on his mother and basically the boy couldn't do any wrong in the eye's of momma
mike clarett jr the eldest son is in prison
the middle son dropped out of the university of buffalo becuase he didn't like playing for a losing team and then was declared academically ineligible

from what I understand probably can add Vick to the pool
him didn't listen to his dad

resurfaced for a reason

meh, mateen didn't get in any serious trouble, outside some stupid drunken beer stealing long forgotten about.
webber wasn't from the hood, he went to detroit country day, fugin white prep school. and besides taking money in college, he was free of scandal his entire pro career. while taking money from ed martin was bad, it sure doesn't seem as bad as a lotta athlete criminal behaviour.
