Good for here. Parents need to be more proactive. Shocking your kid may sometimes be the only way to get through to them.
I remember my mom telling me that when she was 15 she started skipping school a lot. She got caught. My grandmother took two weeks off of work and WALKED my mom to school, HOLDING HER HAND. She walked her to class, and met her after each class to walk her to the next one - making my mom hold her hand the entire time.
I hope that when the time comes, I am bold enough to shock my kids when the need arises.
