minor tear in quad :(

So I was squatting my third week 5x5. I was doing 285 5x5 on my third set third rep and when I went all the way down I heard a tearing sound in my right quad. I could feel a slight pain in the front middle of my quad (not near my knee which is good) I still finished the remaining reps but stopped after due to some slight pain.

I woke up today my quad is fairly stiff, but not very sore. No pain near my joint,or bruising, which I will assume is good. I have no problems walking correctly or anything of that sort. I'm really not sure how it even happened it might've been just I wasn't stretched enough as I really try to go olympic style when I squat and the strain happened when I was approaching the bottom of my squat not going up.

Anyone have any recommendations besides ice several times a day and take it fairly easy training legs for a few weeks?

I wouldn't say training with light weights, but rather get a weight you would normally fail around 8 reps and do 6 sets of 3 reps with it the extra sets will add the volume needed to keep you strong while helping with the healing.

Also get some tigerbalm ,the 1000+ years old chinese medicine, rub it by doing semi-circles and up and down moves strongly into the damaged area, it will hurt a bit but it pays off, 3xday.

I wouldn't do as the above...Don't train legs for a while, just move it around lightly, don't stretch it for a week or 2 either. Just keep it moving.

yeah right now I'm taking it pretty easy I got a thigh wrap from a sporting goods store which actually helped a lot and my leg feels pretty solid today in comparison to yesterday. I am still going to take it easy and switch back to my old routine of legs once a week and mix in some light cardio on my off days.
