Military Steroid Test 2012

I have a buddy that is a higher up (LTC) that gave me a heads up I wanted to pass along. An official DOD email has been sent to all branches about a month ago that states they will start testing for anabolic steroids. This is because the military is wanting to downsize. Yes the tests are expensive but its much cheaper to give the tests than keep people in. Also will use PT tests and height/weight to kick people out. The steroid wont be a separate test, but will be added to the test that is already given. It didnt go into specifics like what will be tested, how many people they will test, etc. But it did say they are going to start testing for steroids bottom line to help downsize. Has anyone else heard this? or have anymore concrete info? if you're on test you need to get a doctor script ASAP or get off

Heard this a couple of times, but thought it was some boot bs that got out of hand (happens alot) but recently it's been talked about so much I gave my CO a call and sure enough, every branch will soon be testing for banned substances. Anabolic steroids as well as banned Pro Hormones will be tested for and violators will be charged under the same articles of the UCMJ as those who pop for weed, cocaine, ect. They will not be able to test for HGH from what I understand, but getting caught with paraphenelia such as used vials or caps will be subject to discipline including battalion level NJP and an OTH discharge.

Basically, if you're on AAS, and you get caught, they're going to treat you like you've been doing crack or meth, and you'll get a shitty DD214. Looking for this to happen as soon as this August, according to what my CO was told.

so its all true huh? did he say if they will test everyone? and will they test for steroids every drug test?

I call BS! I've already discharge so this doesn't affect me but I have bros still in that take AAS. They talked about doing this the entire time I was in and never came close to it. Testing for this utilizes gas chromatography and mass spectrometry to do. Also it's hair not urine.

im highly concerned about being tested if this is true....i ended a cycle recently that included deca and it detectable for up to 18 months....the DOD protocol for steroid testing is done with a urine test.....not hair....although im sure they could do a hair test if they wanted.....im just trying to look out for everyone....i keep getting conflicting responses and information....if this is true it needs to spread like wildfire

Urine testing wont turn results for AAS. Blood and hair follicle are the only ways. Summer of 07 I was taking liquid anadrol and some shit called Russian bear that I got off base. We had a 96 and when it ended we got piss tested I popped hot for Opiates. I didn't get in trouble because I had receipts and got it all on base.

I have been a certified drug tester for years. You can add on a specific panel to detect the most abused steroids (deca, winny, anavar, etc) but it's expensive as shit to do. But you're technically right, the standard 10 or 5 panel testing for rec drugs won't detect roids.

drug tester in the military?

It's not going to be utilized on every test (if it gets approved at all)
They're just changing the request method for aas testing. If you give solid reasonable belief that you should be tested for aas, they (supposedly) will now be able to request a detection panel and test you.

But I've heard them bullshit about this kind of thing for years and only ever heard of one guy being caught, and he was dumb enough to have like 24 var tabs in his pocket so he deserved it

thanks for clarifying....its definitely put my mind at ease!

Bump!

Any other details on this? This is the first I've heard of it and does not go along with my service's Alcohol and Substance Abuse Instruction. Has this been passed from what you heard? Is this randomized? Is this added to the standard urinalysis?

Thanks for any insight!
