How does one properly perform a Military Press ?
Does anyone have any links, video clips ?
 
Buy Starting Strength, and read/follow the chapter on the press. Then put your feet together, and it'll be a military press.

You mean feet together as i toughing is the the proper military press? How do you keep your balance doing that?

Yeah, "military" press is with heels (sorry, should've been more specific) touching. So I've always just written "standing" press in my logs, since I do them with feet apart.
 
so why are there seated military presses? do your feet have to touch too? or would it be more correct to say standing overhead press or standing shoulder press?

seems kindof ridiculous to base the lift on foot position. perhaps its an old diehard name, but seems redundant, unless its a split stance or something to differentiate a grossly different stance. but people generally take anywhere from shoulder width to as mentioned heels together and its the same lift.

not flaming or trying to be condescending, just keeping things simple.
 
I'm sure it has something to do with the history of the lift. I don't keep my feet together like that, they are shoulder width apart.
 
I'm just going by what Rippetoe says at the beginning of the Press chapter in Starting Strength, where he describes, and includes pictures of, about a dozen different kinds of overhead press.
