Military Bro's: Is this viable?

Ok, so I am stocking up the pantry in preparation of my late summer cycle. I ran across a military surplus catalog selling squad MRE's. They had chili with beef, chicken teriaki, italian sausage with pasta and chicken chow mein. Are any of these edible enough to make it worth stocking up? They are 96oz tubs for $6.00, so I have to at least investigate this.

My major concern is that there are extremely high levels of preservatives, and other junk, but I really have only had limited experiences with them, so I'll really appreciate any informed input.

sounds like the newer mre's they tast good, just remember a full mre is over 2,000 cal each and full of carbs, great for energy in the field or long roadmarches but will make you fat real fast if your not working out hardcore

LMAO!!!!...bro they are crap for someone that has access for real food.....TONS on of carbs, simple carbs at that. dont waste your time bro...lol

Dude, for the price of MRE's just go and buy a bunch of eggs. You could get ten times as much protein for the money... Processed foods ( ie. MRE's are processed ) are never as good as all natural....

All this talk about MRE's is making me hungry for some Thai chicken. :RADAR

Yeah Bro save your money for the real food, shit you can get it at the commisary(sp) dirt cheap....I miss that place too

Supavamp, Bicepts and I are military.

MRE's are designed for soldiers in the field who have no access to real food.

They are not as nutritious as real food, and yes they have loads of preservatives in them......too much sodium too.

I have MRE's from active duty that I haven't even eaten.......they have a long shelf life.....I would keep them in my car if I was stranded somewhere, but that's about it.

Yuk, after awhile they all start tasting the same too. I liked chicken with salsa, and beef stew when mixed with crackers. Whats with the cocca powder, lol. Like every fricken mre has got cocca powder? Nothing like hot chocolate in 150 degree weather.
