Mike Mentzer's HD leg workout

I have done MANY different styles of traing and still come back to my favorite leg routine. Many new guys may never have tried it nor ever heard of Mike Mentzer The idea is to work the hell out of your legs with as little taxing of your CNS as possible and it works.

One warm up set of good full squats
One warm up set of leg ext.

pick your 1 max rep for lex ext.

Pick the wieght on the squat rack that limits you to about 10, that is failure at 10.

Rest pause on your leg ext:
1 rep
10 count pause
1 rep
10 count etc...

do this until you can no longer get one more rep then drop it down and burn it out a bit

Go directly to the squat rack and grind out your GOOD squats to failure.

YOU WILL BE DONE. TRUST ME.

on your next leg day do a more routine leg workout. Anyone else ever done this? Whenever my legs start to lag I go back to it and it works. DO NOT SUBSTITUTE LEG PRESSES FOR SQUATS.

I haven't read about that leg workout. But one similiar, where you warm up with squats or leg press, then preset your weight. Then you do a set of leg extensions, and when finished do a set of squats right after.

Mike was right about many things, including frequency. Although very few people need 9 days rest between workouts lol. From the hundreds of people IA trains, and the thousands Mike trained, I never saw anyone from people who had shit genetics, to those that were blessed, who didnt make great progress.

Pre exhaust

Sounds like you are talking more of a pre-exhaustion. I guess his version is to pre-exhaust with max weight thus the rest pause. I have always loved it. I hit each body part once every 7 days and that includes the two days rest. Sometimes consecutive days rest sometimes not. I just listen to my body and overalll feeling of enthusiasm and state of recovery.
