michael who??

don't disrespect MJ... last time i checked this lebron character had 0 rings while this MJ character had 6..

yeah yeah lebron is young but that is exactly why you can't compare him to jordan.. i love lebron and i think that he is better than kobe bryant, but do not compare him to MJ yet. I mean, skill wise and stat wise he might be as good as jordan when his career is over, but you can't say shit now while he has 0 championships. Jordan was the best leader on the court i have ever seen.. please don't disrespect the best player to ever play the game of basketball

i love michael jordan. . .but this guy is only scratching the surface. . .i mean, three friggin buzzer-beaters? in this year's playoffs alone?? are you f-ing kidding me???

i think their used to be a d00d by that name. . .having a hard time remembering. . .this lebron james character is kinda messing with my memory. . .

dude, that's just fucking lame. you sound like the cheesy media, desperate for a story so they manufacture them.

LBJ may well end up being as good as or POSSIBLY better than Mike (doubt it), but he SURE AS FUCK is not even close to it yet.

You people shoot your load way too early. Weak sauce.

nah. . .i'm just in awe of anyone with jaw-dropping, God-given ability. . .and it extends way beyond sports. . .

Agreed, but confused on how that leads to the desire to A) compare those with this ability and B) shit on someone who has put in a life's work of said ability in favor of someone barely on the cusp.

meh. . .i'll never put him on a pedestal. . .athletes (in general) don't belong there anyway. . .but, he is quickly becoming the real deal. . .i'm just enjoying sitting back and watching him grow. . .heck. . .i don't even really like basketball. . .to me, most of the time, it's just WWF with a ball. . .just a bunch of acrobatic bullshit with no real substance. . .especially when you get "the best in the game" together to play internationally and they get their asses handed to them by a bunch of medium-sized guys named juan who play for the puerto rican national squad. . .

my thread title was designed to titillate. . .apparently it did. . .you of all people should understand that concept, no??. . .hello???

LeBron shows why he is ‘The Chosen One’
James seizes the moment, moves ever closer to the greatness of Jordan

CLEVELAND - Simply the best ... what else can anybody say about LeBron James?

In the biggest game of this playoff season, if not of his NBA career, James did what MVPs are counted on to do: He put the game’s outcome in his hands Friday night. With James and the Cleveland Cavaliers trailing the Orlando Magic, 95-93, with one second left, he needed to make an MVP-like play.

And he didn’t disappoint.

“It’s the biggest shot I’ve made in my career,” James said.

Call his shot “The Miracle at The Q.” Look at it as Cleveland’s payback for the shot that Michael Jordan buried at the Richfield Coliseum — the shot that has cut the heart out of Clevelanders year after year. Jordan’s shot still hurts. It will always hurt here, if you bleed Cavaliers wine and gold.

Maybe James lessened that hurt just a tad Friday night. Just maybe his 23-foot shot, the game clock almost at zero, will be the defining moment of a season in which the Cavs have proved they are among the league’s elite.

They didn’t need to prove they had an elite player. James proved that years ago, and each season he has performed at a higher and higher level. Until now, they use his name in the same paragraph with Jordan. Soon enough, it might be used in the same sentence.

Blasphemy, some people might say. Go ahead, say it then.

But Michael Jordan’s legend had to start somewhere. Jordan had to build his reputation in moments like this, moments when the lights were brightest and the pressure at its most intense. He had to want the big shots; he had to make the big shots.

In the 107-106 loss Wednesday, James eschewed the big shot in the final seconds. He drove hard to the basket in that game and dished to Delonte West on the perimeter. West missed an open jumper, and the Cavs lost.

James had no time for passing Friday night. Either he’d take the shot and make it or Cavs fans would have to count on someone else.

But who else could that be? Did anybody really think West would take the shot? Or Mo Williams? Or Zydrunas Ilgauskas?

If James is going to be the next Jordan, James had to take the final shot. He had to seize the moment — a moment when reputations can be made.

Yet the choice wasn’t his to avoid with time so fleeting. Either LeBron James shoots or he sees the Cavaliers, a team that has been seemingly invincible at home, head to Orlando on Sunday towing a 0-2 deficit with them in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference finals.

To say their circumstances would have been dire does not misstate the situation. Orlando is a tough place to play; and the Magic are a tough team to beat — home or away. So much in this series rested on what James did with the shot.

He caught the inbound pass, rose above the 6-foot-10 Hedo Turkoglu and lofted a jumper from behind the 3-point arc. His shot threaded the net. James grabbed a win from a game that looked lost.

“I got that out of my bag of Michael Jordan tricks,” James said.

His shot evened the series, and it might have salvaged the season. It definitely left the Magic shell-shocked.

“That one obviously hurts quite a bit,” Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said.

Van Gundy’s mood was somber, his spirits shaken. He was mourning a 96-95 loss when he thought — with one second left — that the Magic had a 95-93 win.

“I don’t know what else to tell you,” Van Gundy said.

What coach would?

Van Gundy had a prime seat in a game that will be another chapter in the legend LeBron James is building. His shot at The Q will be just another story that Clevelanders will tell each other about their native son — “The Chosen One,” as he has come to be known around here.

“Amazing shot by an amazing player,” Cavs coach Mike Brown said. “That’s what great players do.”

Simply the best ...

3 buzzer beaters does not a Michael Jordan replacement make.

Lebron is indeed the best player in the NBA right now, and I would be surprised if as time went on he didnt excel past Jordan and accomplish more on the court, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

The Cavs are by far the most fun to watch, though.

jordan didnt win his first ring until his 7th season. lets see if lebron is on that pace or better.

If they can get past the Magic I think they have it in the bag.

i know. . .but it's fun to speculate, no?? i mean, some of the best arguments i've ever heard are people trying to stack (e.g.) jim brown against earl campbell against walter payton, etc., etc. . .the bottom line is, we'll never get to see these people head-to-head, and all we're left to do is speculate. . .it's fun stuff when you're sitting around drinking beer and running your mouth. . .but really?? meh, who cares? basketball is kinda fun to watch right now. . .and lebron has mad skills.

so you think they are a lock against lakers? kobe is still kobe and we know how good that is

Ya Kobe has his skills, but I think between James, Williams, and Z it would have to go to the Cavs.

James > Kobe at getting his team involved. Whenever Kobe has an off night the Lakers lose. Lebron doesnt have to score 40 points to make a huge difference in a game.

i would have to agree there, but hell you can name players on LA also.... gasol is better than Z IMO... Z has got a perimeter game, but i would still take gasol. Odom is a do it all player. I personally love the shit out of him, and trading shaq for odom, caron butler (imagine if they still had him), and brian grant (piece of shit) was an unbelievable trade for LA. i don't think they would be the same team without that deal. Anyways, ariza has followed through on clutch defense in every series thus far and i love him.

i don't want to go into detail, but i like the cavs this year and i like lebron over kobe OVERALL. however, i would still want kobe to take the last shot.

Dude how often does kobe have an off night? come on be realistic here.

barkley talks so much shit about lebron and the cavs.
dude spit in a kids face.
he's not cool.
