Anyone know any information of the circumstances about how the Mentzer brothers died? And if AS was a factor? I have Mike Mentzer's book- 'Heavy Duty'. It is the bible of BBing. It's a shame he died so young.

Mike had a heart attack and Ray died on a kidney problem I think but I am not positive. AS may have been a factor but The Mentzer family had a history of heart disease. I read this in Flex as they did a big article on them

I'm not a doctor but i'd say a combo AS, their bodies operating at overmax capacity and the amount of stress on their heart all the time. Recipe for an early exit.

Alot of Mike's problems had to do with the fact that he was a speed freak!!! He was admittedly addicted to speed for years. AS might not have helped, but his heart probably had been stressed from long term speed abuse.

I heard that Ray took his life a few days after his brother passed away.

Its impossible to say whether AS had an effect but I doubt it helped.
