Medium Chain Triglycerides

Has anyone ever tried replacing their fat intake (perhaps in the form of flax oil) with medium chain triglycerides (MCTs)? I was in a conversation recently with Mike Ashley, former Mr Universe, Arnold winner - he keeps his calories up pretty high, keeps the protein intake to 1 g = 1 lb weight. The guy looks great!

Anyway, was interested about the MCTs. Common sources are butter, cocoanut oil and palm oil.

Hi Sassy- I would'nt use the mct oil. You really are better off using flaxseed oil and fish oil to get your fats they are the easiest source of omega 3s. MCT oil will not provide those. This might be one of those things that work best for guys. I have found that for getting lean or even for putting on size I try to limit my fats to the above mentioned ones plus the sat. fats in the meat I eat.

FWIW-I get best results from eating tons of veggies and getting my protein from a variety of sources and adding in omega 3s.-valerie

mct oil is a GREAT supplement to help induce ketosis.

AS mike said JT. there are best used before workout becuase they (oxidize) burn alot faster then long chain fatty acids :) from flax seed oil . Must have been carb depelted or dreaming about that sushi we ate LOL

ZKaudio-

How does it help induce ketosis? I was thinking of using some, and this sounds pretty interesting!
