Medical advice......

gilly6993

New member
There are very few people on this board that should be giving medical advice.....If you're not a physician don't give people medical advice.....a lot of guys here really take advice given to them very seriously and if you don't know what you're talking about and give out advice someone could be in some serious trouble.....the standard answer when someone is concerned with their health is "go to the doctor"......

Bump this pig...good advice.

Gilly you could also add the fact that just because a dude has a high post count doesn't mean he is 100% accurate. 2nd and 3rd opinions (professional hopefully) should be encouraged.

yes definately agree, who's talking out there ass?

....just a generalized statement....I see a lot of posts with people complaining being in pain or haveing some sort of medical problem and all of a sudden the board has a bunch of MD's giving there $.02 when they have no business doing so......one day someone is going to take someone's unprofessional advice and get themselves into some serious trouble.....

The only problem is that alot of people come here because this is basically back room talk that you can't get from your family practitioner. My first thought would be the injection sites that alot of guys here use (myslef included), which are the only guide some get to use, because lets face it most of don't or won't ask our doctors about how to inject properly. So in this sense it's all we have to go by. But I think you may be getting at stuff like "When I injected, the next day it was the size of a softball, what should I do, is it an abcess? type of questions? The answer...go see a doctor.

I have to agree with you on this as well Gilly, but as being a Physician Assistant specializing in Orthopaedics, I feel I can offer advice to some people from time to time. If you look over some of my past threads, you will find that some of my advice, especially on the topic of SLIN is very negative. I will be the first person to direct a person to go see a Doctor if needed, but most Orthopaedic questions are not a case of life or death. At any time, any of you feel the need for some medical advice, I hope my reputation on this board has earned me a little respect. Feel free to I.M me at any time. If I do not respond in a timely manner, it is due to the ammounts of email I receive a day. Good post bro!

WAIT!

Ok, yes you are totally right- and it was a good post, to break down people's assumtions that they can cure themselves from checking this site... I believe in seeing a Dr 100%- HOWEVER, any Dr you see has maybee experiences <0.25%, or some other small number, of the problems he actually diagnoses....

I like the fact that you can come here and get info from people who have had the same problems as you.. Again, this doesnt substitute a professional diagnosis, but it helps with piece of mind and a lot of other factors.....

Ok, ask brothers for advice, see a Dr, then talk to brothers for support.. Nothing wrong with that..... I know you weren't condeming that, I just wanted to point that out....

sorry for the spelling, im 8 cornona's down....:D

....yes Lat....I should have put PA's on along with MD's as you're one on the board who can give med advice....my bad.....

Gilly,I am glad you posted this,I have seen some pretty scary advice in the past.Like someone who has been on orals too long and their eyes and skin turn yellow from jaundice and someone replies with"just take some milk thistle and drink some more water":(

I agree. I willl give advice on injurys...Hell I have had all of them it seems but if it comes to "I think my liver is swollen!" It like " well dumbass get your self to a doctor!" It is irresponsible for anyone on this board to give medical advice and risk another board members life. If anyone sees this let me know and I will tell the person to go to the doctor and lock the thread to stop anymore stupid replies.

Your right Gilly, 100%. But, IMO if someone is having serious problems the first thing to do is go to their family Dr., or atleast the ER to have it checked out. The swolen injection sites for example, I have seen a dozen times on the board. If someone is having a real problem and is experiencing pain their first response should be to go to the doctor, not go on-line. However if something just looks weird/funny or there's a general question I would ask here first. Then using intellegence weed thru the answers. I am not of the "normal" crowd, I work in a medical Lab and have a little more insight than some I guess but that's my two cents worth.

No problem Gilly, I'm just here to help.

The original post makes sense in most ways, but not always. My GP is pretty clueless about everything I have asked him about. I have been in and around medicine for fifteen years and other than specialists, very few docs impress me. The GP doc has too much to cover to know about very specific areas.

The bottom like is there are some things you need to see a doc about. There are many other gear related questions that most can't bring up to their doctor. My doctor is not "cool" like some of your docs are and I don't need him for much so I don't care. But if I have a question about protecting my liver while taking 750mg/week of sust, 40mg of dbol/day and fina 400mg/week, I can't ask him and I think that is medically important.

If I think my GI tract is messed up, like it recently was, I go to the ER and then a gastro. If I break an arm, I go to the ER. If I am having bad cramping from fina, creatine, etc., I don't ask my doc. He doesn't have a clue.

Additionally, People on this site are giving advice on how to take all kinds of prescription medicines like test, deca, anadrol, clomid, nolva, ferma, HGH, etc. Those are some serious medical questions in my mind. How many people on this site know all the potential short-term and long-term adverse events with those Rx drugs and how they could interact with other things people take on a daily basis from other meds to herbal supplements?

I agree, but I also know there are questions here you can't get answered at a doctors office. I don't mean to sound negative, but you have to pick your source for info. I see the net as info gathering, but ultimately each one of us is responsible for making an educated decision about our health while taking gear.
