Just heard on the news that the media will be allowed to be on the battle feild, if the US go to war.

I bet CNN is just counting the dollar signs now.

Fuck the media. They'll slow the troops down. But at least there will be some good footage!

I think that there will be alot of "editing" before we see any footage though.

Don't worry....

They aren't a problem. State Department's going to ship dozens of lawyers over there to consult military commanders so they avoid doing anything that might be deemed a "war crime" that could get them or their troops called before the ICC.

When we have to call in lawyers to have a war, that's when it's over.

During the last gulf war, according to an article I read with testimony from journalists, our guys buried thousands of Iraqi bodies to give the war a more anit-sceptic look.

They also prevented the press from being around in certain situations because they were afraid saddam might use chem weapons and didnt want the american people to potentially watch our soldiers writhing in agony which may damage support for the war.

To say the least. It was depicted on CNN as a kind of video game with smart bombs sneaking into buildings and detonating without carnage. The American people still think very few people were killed in that war and it's what fuels the support of the present invasion. When you mention casualties, support starts dropping.

This time they want Geraldo Rivera to scoop Saddam's capture.

Actually, the war mongers at home would have freaked at seeing Iraqi's being thrown into mass graves and buried.

One of the pictures I saw showed a civilian burnt to a crisp lying halfway out of the shell of a car

Frackal,

I think I know what picture you are referring to, and the body was not that of a civilian.

It was actually an Iraqi soldier driving a supply truck. It looked as if his truck was shelled by M-1’s, and he tried to escape through the front windshield area as he was burning alive.

Nevertheless, civilian or not, it is one of the most gruesome things I have ever seen...

If a picture of an American soldier burned to crisp was on the front page of evey newspaper in the USA, I wonder what that would do to support for Bush? However, our great leaders will take care to make sure nobody actually sees anything bad. They'll do just like the last time and only show explosions from miles away. It would be a PR disaster if the American public actually saw what is really happening.
