Mechanical or Digital Weight Scale

What type of scale is more accurate? One of the professional mechanical ones that you see at the doctor's office that cost around $50 USD or your above average digital scale that costs around $50-60 USD that measure in 1/2 lb (0.2kgs) increments?

Thanks.

balances are the most accurate, spring based ones the least. digital ones are very good in my experience, and besides, the key is to calibrate (or at least double check them) with a weight that doesnt change

Mine is digital and measures down to 1/10th of a pound. It's accurate too because it'll get the right weight with me and a ferret on it when I know the weight of the ferret from putting it in my food scale.

what the hell are you doing putting a ferret in your food scale?

My mechanical scale sucks. It was a decent one too. I think the steam from the shower rusted it or something. I now have a digital scale that works great.

I have a digital scale and it works great. Mine has the fat% test as well which is'nt really accurate but it's just for fun (plus it does'nt go past 99%, don't ask how I know) Anyway, thew scale measures to 1/10ths of a pound which sucks because you gotta stand perfectly still until the numbers stop moving which is almost impossible for it to give you a fat% reading. If you move, it gives an error sign that kills me and I just give up.

Get the scale with .5 increments, not 1/10. I blame the scale for my obesity.

Well, the food scale only goes up to 5-6 pounds and the ferrets are 1.5-4 pounds. Our puppy was in a food scale a couple of times too.

I wash it before putting food in it again. It's not like I put the ferret in with 4 oz of chicken. lol

All depends on the quality of components.

"Digital" is frequently overrated since they are frequently analog and go through a digital converter.

Digicams/mini DV for example. But they yield better special effects.

Betacams are still far better than digicams. Much pricier though.

The new Sony digicam at $3700 has real promise however. Have not used it.
