maximizing leg drive on benchpress

marc1

New member
hi, I wanted to know what would be the better position to use to get the maximum leg drive, MM style with legs tucked underneath or westside style with feet wide in front?

Depends on you. Look at pics of the big boys and gals and you will see some are flat-footed e.g. Matt Lamarque, some on toes e.g. Becca Swanson. Try different things and you will find yours.

Yes - give a couple styles a try while learning. I have tried both and still like the WSB better than the MM style. I tended to do well with the MM style as I am flexible, but it torqued my back pretty bad.

Once you find your way, you will feel it. Good luck.

Awesome link! K to you!

I prefer to bench arched like that with my feet way back under me. WSB setup just doesnt work for me when I try to use leg drive. when i set up arched, I can pull my legs way back and even with me pushing as hard as I can with my legs, my ass stays planted.

Really liked the link also. Gave it a try this week, but I feel I do best flat foot, which I see is called WSB. I'd appreciate it if anyone has a similar link for a flat- footed approach so I could compare the two with my own (most probably sub-standard) style.

all i can say is that vid is what i've been missing for some time now. i reworked my setup, and hit a 20lb PR and probably had another 5lbs in the tank.

Thank you for posting it, gotta spread some K around but its coming your way!
