Max operating temperature for Athlon XP 2400

What's a good temperature to be operating at? I have a Volcano 9 fan on it and it's damn loud. I can control the speed of the fan and I set it lower so it's not that loud. But the temp just went up to 127 F; 52 C is that ok?

No! The cooler, the better. The hotter it gets, the more the chip expands, resulting in an increased chance of circuits shorting out or breaking.

Anything under 60C is good for an AMD... my 1900+ XP runs at 53C.

looks like we both have some serious issues. glad I'm not alone.

my 1.53 runs @ 1.67 and never goes above 51 celcius even under intense gaming.

I'll get a copper heat sink soon...maybe I can bring the temp down a little more.
