Mass ARRESTS and right here in the US! (It can't happen here, right?!)

IMO an act like this would only encourage a terrorist attack by the terrorists who obviously all stayed at home.

Matt,

I am not suprised to say the least. It makes me think of the reality of Pearl Harbor and the deportation of Japanes-Americans. That's right, Americans.

I am unsure if the same thing will indeed follow the same path? I do however believe that if something has to be done in a militant manner in order remove Saddam Hussein from political power. He has proven himself to be a ruthless leader and the people in his coutry love him yet fear him. It doesn't add up to me. Obviously there has to be some internal pressure for citizens to vote or there may be another scandolous voting system. Ala Florida. lol. My .02.

How you doin' down there in the heat man?

I don't necessarily have a problem with the Iraqi invasion. Done right it can be hugely beneifical to the entire region.

This is different shit though. This is domestic and this is government agenices implementing dumb policies to try and get bigger budgets down the line.

This country is about liberty and freedom. It is about government by and for the people. I'm a disabled veteran bro - I put up 3 years of my life preparing to defend this motherfucker. This kind of stupid policy is sickening to me. You don't just round people up off the streets and jail them.

You figure out what the problem is, and you get that shit fixed. if they are wanted for a crime, OK, arrest them. Visa issues? Get them fixed. This country was built by immigrants. How can the INS justify this action?

Ridiculous.

Anyway- loving the 75 degree days right now. However I am coming home in a few days for a week. I will PM you.

"those arrested had violated immigration laws, overstayed their visas(crime), or were wanted for crimes."

Good, they are imprisoning those that break the law.

"They are being treated as criminals and that really goes against American ideals of fairness, and justice and democracy," Khan said. "

Maybe they are being treated like criminals..... because, they have commited crimes??????

Hi!

Did you read the part that said many of those detained were victims of official delays in processing visa and green card requests. ?

So the INS is jailing people after the INS fails to square the paperwork away. Nice one. Is it of any concern to you that an agency that sent Visa renewals to some of the 9/11 hijackers is jailing people who are actually trying to comply with the new guidelines?

How about this part:

requires all males over 16 from a list of 20 Arab or Middle East countries, who do not have permanent resident status in the United States, to register with U.S. immigration authorities

Does it bother you that certain immigrants are treated differently than others? Good thing they didn't do this to your ancestors huh?

As far as treating them like criminals, only those who are convicted of a crime should be treated that way.

I agree that the INS is totally corupt and inept, but it looks like they are taking a step in the right direction. Remember, these are illegal aliens who have no right to be here and do not pay taxes.

I know that you Americans can't read worth shit and barely passed your high school GED, but the artcile clearly states that most are legally in the US but do not have any status yet.

Of course they pay taxes, you inbred piece of camel shit. They pay taxes every time they buy something or pay for a service.

If these people are found guilty of immigrant infractions, why not deport them back to their own country. Why put them behind bars here? That is disturbing though, either way.

Most are probably real refugees scared of their old government. Sending them back would be sending them into mortal danger.
