Yes, that is how it happened. Hulk got knocked into some mountains and lost interest in fighting.

The best fight of all was Thor vs Shazam (Captain Marvel). Thor beat the piss out of him and then stole the lightning as it came down to transform Captain Marvel, rendering him helpless.

I always favored Marvel over DC, because it felt more realistic.
Batman was an exception, and seemed semi believable.
My favorite was Daredevil. I bought #1 for $13, but it was pretty beat up.

Growing up I always preferred Marvel but DC rocks too. Marvel tendencies: accidental origins, no capes, less often have a secret identity, and the comics were always continuing stories.
DC: more capes, secret identities, stories closed with each comic, softer, criminals more comical.
