Was just wondering...
when you got married, how was the ceremony in terms of # of people, size of church, hall, etc...?

Please vote (plenty of options) & explain.

Peace

*P.S. Hehe, did you enjoy it? ;)

I got married at a last 1800's historic courthouse in my hometown. Limited space (and then some). Stepped on A LOT of toes with my guestlist. We had 130-140 people there.

Dinner was amazing. I had a chocolate fountain and cheesecakes. Instead of a dj we had a singer singing live Rat Pack music. He sounded like a Sinatra record or something. 2 photographers shot for 5 hours in photojournalist style. I love my pictures.

I had a really great time except that we fought a decent amount all night and my feet REALLY hurt. 15k. But I felt like a princess.

Wow you're quick!
;)

Oh, our wedding and reception were at the same place. The wedding was supposed to be outside and the reception inside. The prior weekend it was in the 80's. It was 38 degrees and raining. I cancelled the chairs and at least got that money back. Everyone sat at their dinner tables and we made an aisle up the middle. It worked out just fine.

i did not get married in some huge church but for the size of the church i would say we had a big wedding...the reception went well also

got married at a place called Chapel in the garden. Here are some pics of what it looks like (not my wedding) http://tavernandchapel.com/Wedding-Photo-Gallery-g8.html

We did the ceremony in the garden since we're not religious. Small gathering since it was during the week and since well, we don't have that large of a family I guess. Roughly 80 people were there. The wife loved it so that's all that counts. I would have been just as happy signing the marriage license and getting married by the clerk of the court for all I cared.

People didn't stay long at the reception. Most likely because it was during the day and again, it was on a Wednesday. Didn't get to do any of the tossing the flower thing or that thing around the brides leg, I can't remember the names of them. Did the first dance thing, ate, talked to family, cut the cake, then left.

Waste of money to me

I voted "none of the above."

We got married at the University & Whist Club.

We had the wedding outside & the reception was inside. We had the Justice of the Peace marry us. Beautiful place. The DJ screwed the whole thing up by showing up late & messing up my music -- I had made him a CD.

The food was excellent. We had about 40 people. Cost was about $11k but I think that included the honeymoon cost.

Big church, approx...220 at the reception. I wanted a small wedding with the immediate family. Maybe 20 people, but we went with the big one mainly for my wife and more for my parents (my wife would also have done the small wedding but would rather the larger one). So we went bigger.

We paid for the whole thing. It sucked( the paying part), the wedding was nice. We had fun. I don't recommend it. I was just invited to a wedding that's costing 80k lmao It's just another day... if that's what you need to feel "special" then you're on the wrong path.

It was the coolest party I've ever been to. We got married in our back yard. We had spent the last 2 years remodeling our house, then planned the wedding and reception at home. I cooked all the food, and my wife and her mom, took care of the orginization and decoration. We hired one of my mother inlaws friends to put out the food, she had 2 assistants that went to school w/ my wifes younger sisters. Small keg of beer, and plenty of wine. Everything came off without a hitch. It was at 6pm in August and the house just shaded the yard. The dj was very good, and funny. We had 70 people sitting at tables around a dance floor at the far side of the yard. It was sweeeeet! The photographer put all the negatives on disk for me to print at will. We spent an afternoon in Downtown Portland taking pictures, as well as wedding day candids. Then we went to new orleans for our honeymoon.

Two things ....

1) I got married in Vegas, but did not have the "celebrity made famous casino strip wedding".

2) I was married outdoors on a lakeside white sand beach at sunset.

Woah bro, cool of ya to post some pix!
And my compliments...you have a pretty lady there. :rose:

You peeps that threw down $15k + Would you rather have had a small simple party, and used the cash to help start your life together?

BTW. I realize $15k is low for a wedding now a days.

We had already started our life. I wsn't sold on marriage by a long shot when we fiirst got together. We were married on our 4th anniversary . I'd already bought, and remodeled my house. We were pretty set as far as the home front. The nice part was no one knew what to get us, cause we had everything we needed, so we got lots of cash for the honeymoon, which was also a gift. I think we spent 7k on the wedding. My wife and her mom are Martha Stewart deciples. We made everything for our wedding. Tables and chairs, dj, servers, and photographer, were the only thing we hired out for. We made the invitations, announcements, guest gifts, bouquet and flower arrangement, table cloths, vintage china and silver(from goodwill), etc. They had as much fun shopping, and assembly, as they did on the day of.

we're getting married on a small cereomony is my parent's backyard on sept 4th. the crowd will be small (around 80 peeps, mostly just family). our reception wil be at a local favorite italian restaurant. we wanted to go downtown to get married, but that didnt fly with the parents.

I can honestly say that it was the best day of my life. Everything went so perfect, including the weather. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

We had a traditional wedding in a Catholic church. The reception was at a local park that went well since the weather was cool and sunny.
