marinading a chuck roast, any point?

i'm making a mexican stew in the crockpot.
normally with ribeyes/sirloin i marinade with olive oil and pepper (best marinade imo)...any point in doing this for a
crockpot roast?

Depends on what you're doing with it, but you could do a dry rub with herbs and spices that'd go with its other ingredients. You could poke holes in it with a knife and put slivers of garlic in them. As it cooks slowly the garlic will permeate through the meat and be all sorts of deliciousness. You could also do this with peppercorns. If you're going with a beaner theme, you could use whole cumin seeds and garlic.
