I need a new roof. Not leaking or anything, but it's 20 years old and the shingles are pitted. SO I called about 15 different roofing companies two weeks ago and arranged to get about seven estimates done. Most promised the estimates would be done by last week.
I live in a 3-story townhouse with a mansard on the front. About 1150 SQ ft of roof at the most.
Oh yeah I need to get the sheathing (plywood under the shingles) replaced because it is FRT so no shingle-overs.
So far I have gotten 2 estimates. One for $9000 from Home Dept (way too high) and one for $2100 the didn't include sheathing replacement even though I specifically stated I need the FRT replaced.
For those of you who don't know back in the 80's the chemical they put on plywood (Flame Ratardant Treated) actually promotes rotting when exposed to water. Thus building codes dictate that it be replaced whenever a roof is done. It is not an option to neglect this and roofing companies know this.
Roofign companies must be busy as shit. I'm just lucky my roof ain't leaking yet so I am not desperate.
