Mail order seizure question...

Snoop

Lets just say an order for an illegal product was being mailed to someone from outside of the country they reside in. If this order is seized what could the authorities do other than confiscate the order. Search the residence, arrest the addresee?

I have no clue in this situation.... As far as I know the law would have to have reason to want to go beyond the confiscated mail (IT WOULD HAVE TO BE A HIGH ENOUGH VOLUME or SOMETHING THAT GAVE THEM REASON TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER).

sure they can. what on gods green earth would prohibit them from comming after you for trying to import an illegal substance.

well, i take that back, they mgiht not come knocking your door in for rec'ing some mail, but there is a chance they can set up surveilance and watch to see if you have any similair activies going on, which would result in arrest. which is why its important to change address post seizure.

usually, they arent going to waste the $ and manpower to go after personal amounts of steriods, note i said usually :(

That was what I was trying to say as well.... if you were a huge buyer and they thought you posed more of a risk they would then watch you or come after you- the law is indeed more concerned with the bigger guys

I found this on a legal website outlining the law for anabolic steroid users:

"Of course, anabolic steroid distribution is investigated in a variety of other ways. For example, monitoring news groups and chat rooms on the Internet has become a common approach of federal agents. Trying to sell or buy steroids over the Internet can be an excellent way of getting oneself arrested. It is always best to assume that anyone looking for steroids on the Internet is an undercover police agent. Federal Postal inspectors also monitor the U.S. mails. Suspicious packages coming from overseas or Mexico can be examined. Among domestic parcels, those from California and the Southwest to sites on the East Coast reportedly have a higher probability of attracting attention. Once suspicion is aroused, inspectors will investigate records of prior packages involving the points of origin or destination. If illegal drugs are found in the mail, the U.S. Postal inspectors will often arrange a "controlled delivery" of the package to the designated recipient. If the package is accepted, agents will immediately enter with a search warrant to look for additional drugs. Obviously, sending or receiving anabolics through the mail is risky business."

i'm sure if the feds really wanted to bust you they could,
but unless you are running $50,000 a month in gear, i doubt they will fuck with you unless its the local authorities that get involved,
those fuckers would bust you just for looking at them wrong

Customs has been known to ship the controlled substance to local authorities, I know I was arested for 250 thai d-bol tabs.

I wish I could help but I don't feel I that I could provide you with adequate advice on the matter.

BUT...I have just begun working for Rick Collins, (The Steroid Lawyer www. steroidlaw.com) and he spoke to me about a book he is writing due out in October. There will be a chapter devoted to each state along with an explanation of the laws of that state with regard to the sale, possesssion, etc. of AAS. Additionally it will explain how each of those states is likely to handle such a case.
Most importantly there will be a chapter which describes what will happen in the event there is a controlled delivery, and in essence will tell you "what to do" and "what to say"! It's going to be amazing. He said he wants it to be detailed enough that it serve as a handbook for attorneys faced with an AAS related case, who want to learn the applicable laws of the state. He got me VERY excited to say the least.

This is one of those books that should probably go down as the companion to Anabolics 2000/2002 as THE informational source for anyone considering using AAS. Why should someone looking to add a little muscle be treated the same as a heroin addict?
