Lyle Alzado and juice

I know a lot of people have suggested in the past that Alzado's brain tumor was a result of all the AAS that he took during the course of his NFL career. My question is 'how the hell do they know?' Without knowing too much about the situation, I'd say this is a classic case of fear of the juice. I don't have a medical degree, but I do know that many people (including doctors) automatically attribute the cause of an unexplained inless to that person's use of AAS... perhaps because of what a taboo subject it is? Alzado could very well have developed that tumor had he never touched a single tab or needle. Because there is no way to test this theory, it is a completely safe statement, but then again, so is the statement that the AAS was the cause of it's development. Look at some bodybuilders that have taken insane amounts of AAS and they do not suffer from ill health in any way shape or form. In this, I am not taking the stance of a smoker who justifies their habit by stating that it is impossible to know what the future may hold so we might as well do what we please and let the chips fall where they may. I would just prefer that if anyone (including doctors) are to speak out about AAS or the use of any drug (or activity for that matter), that it should be scientifically based and not driven by the spirit of the times.

Thoughts?

I have heard he actually had A.I.D.S. which would make sense as he had a very very rare type of brain tumor which normally happens in people with auto imune disorders....people with intact immune systems have the ability to stop the tumor growth in most cases.

Lyle was mentioned briefly in Jose Canseco's book and according to the book, Lyle's own doctor did not think the steroids were the problem.

I suppose it is easier to "save face" and sounds more macho to blame steroids instead of AIDS if one did have AIDS.

Agreed , ive heard the same thing about him having AIDS also.. sad regardless.

I wasn't aware he had AIDS, either. What type of brain tumor did he have such that it was most likely to have been caused by AIDS?

They were trying to say that he was using tainted Growth Hormone and that it caused his tumor.. Hell who knows.....

I heard the same thing-plus he was known to have a discreet relationship with his male workout partner he trained w/ at Venice Golds. I heard his wife was an arranged marriage just for show-kinda like Joe and Betty Weider-fuckin fruitcake.

Also, didn't Alzado do time in prison? He could've caught the bug there shooting smack or taking it in the can.

I think he sold out big time and used the AAS/ GH card to generate publicity to pay his med bills.

If you do have cancer and not know it, GH can accelerate the growth of it.

Yes true. That's a great difference between IGF and GH. IGF make more muscle cells while GH makes more cells (all kinds of cells). Big difference.

igf does that bro... that is how GH does it... through the conversion to IGF...

sorry to burst your bubble
:worried:

I actually just read that steroids were the cause of the Vietnam war, global warming, and the tsunami...

If Alzedo had an occult malignancy and was using GH or IGF-1 it would without a doubt make it grow faster. That's where the trail ends though. It would not CAUSE a malignancy, neither would any type of AAS.

I always understood "igf" was more risky than gh -as far as cancer goes???

As soon as GH hits the liver it becomes IGF-1. So the onl difference between the 2 compounds is what GH does prior to getting to the liver, which for the most part is site specific fat loss. The thing is though, IGF is still a research chem, whereas HGH has been around for years. Whether or not that makes a difference I dont know. Some dudes I know who run crazy GH dosages wont touch IGF but then again, they're abusing the piss out of the GH so it's really a non-issue which is safer. But like I said, once GH hits the liver, it's IGF-1.

GH does effect the thyroid as well.. I believe it decreases TSH (?) which is why some people have been supplementing GH with T3

The issue with IGF is it is responsible for all (well most) the negative effects of long term GH use (GH gut for instance)

I personally feel IGF has some great potential, but like anything people want to do HIGH doses, upwards of 100mcg which is way too much IMO.

As you said, IGF hasnt been around long, so we truly dont know what specific IGF supplementation will do, but we DO know that is makes cells grow... and that includes all the positive and negative effects of that ability

Yep bro I always forget about the thyroid effects of GH. I think it decreases TRH though, which is released from the hypothalamus and stimulated the anterior pituitary to release TSH. If I'm wrong please correct me.
