Loyalty to a professional sports team … is it silly?

Hell no, it's not silly.
*Out of 82 regular season games played by the Montreal Canadiens last season, I watched 80...either in real-time or recorded/replayed. The ones I missed were due to a medical emergency in the family, and being stuck in transit unexpectedly while coming back from a business trip. Postseason games, well...DUH...it's the playoffs...I didn't miss a single one!
*I'd gladly take a bullet for any one of the top-six forwards, either of the top-pair D-men, or the starting goaltender.
*It's already in my will that when I die, my casket is to be draped with the Montreal Canadiens flag that flies from the flagpole in my yard. My headstone will feature an etching of the team logo, as "til death do us part" applies only to marriage and not to sports fandom; you are a fan of your team for eternity...death does not break that bond!
The most dismal time of my life was during the NHL lockout...it opened my eyes to just how much joy being a Canadiens fan brings me when it was so cruelly taken away. I was a dedicated fan before that, but I came out of that lockout at a whole other level of fandom.
