i had over three hundred dollars worth of light fixtures, dimmers, switch plates, etc on the check out counter at the local lowe's this morning. the last item did not have a bar code sticker on it. the head cashier refused to get a price on the item; rudely barking out "this here beeeez a SELF serve reg-is-traaaa. youse need to goes stand in ANUTHA line to gets a price".
gentle readers...i had worked a 13 hour night shift, been awake for 26 hours, no caffine for the last 4 hours.....a combination that turned me from a shy suthin' gentlemen into a grouchy 240 pound bear.
my somewhat testy reply was "WOMAN....go find your supervisor. do it NOW!!"
she waddled off in a female snit. i waited 30 seconds (i know this because i slowly counted to 30 to calm my sleep and caffine deprived temper), threw the merchandise (most of it breakable) on the customer service counter and sauntered out, leaving the self service cash register locked up.
all considered, i thought i behaved with patience and restraint. a few years ago i would had cussed the bitch out and threw the merchandise at HER departing wide load backside.
