low test levels

I'm a 21 year old male 5'9 190 13% with a super stict diet who still caries above average body fat. I also train daily and fail to lose stubborn body fat who has recently been dealing with the following symptoms: fatigue, loss of strength (gym numbers have plummeted the last year), and below average sex drive, lack of concentration and decreased motivation for the last 2 years. I have noticed nothing from the Anti D wellbutrin the doc put me on so I had my T levels checked and total test was 247 (241-827 range). My other labs appear to be fine. Tsh was 2.45. Apprantly he thinks this is normal (test of 247) ( family practice doc) and felt did not feel it was an issue. Does this low level warrant further investigation or referral? I have Aetna for health insurance. Does anyone know if a referrel to an endo is first needed before visiting an endo so insurance will cover it? Thanks

It's up to you if you want to live out the rest of your life with the T-Level of the boys choir, personally I would get an endos opinion quick-fucking-sharp, get a walk-in clinic doc to refer you if you can (assuming you dont have to fall under a prefered provider system for insurance)

family doctors are not exactly the people you should be seeing for anything other than the most basic medical problems.

Contact insurance provider and ASK ! My ins. does not require a referal, but many doctors demand it. They don't want to see everyone that thinks they need help.

Why and endo? why not internal med? If you think your family practitioner ain't gettin it done, go to a clinic or another doc that takes your insurance and push it.

At 21 years old your test level you should at the top of the range. Have you done any AAS cycling that might have contributed to your low test?

no, i have not cycled. I already called the doc and should have a referral to an endo early next week. I'll keep you guys updated on the process.

My docs a GP. He has me on HRT, 675mgs per month. He has no qualms about it, but isn't well educated. He's goes by how I feel, rather than what his books say I shold be getting as a dose (400mg/month, max). Went to an Endo & all she wanted to touch was my diabetes.

Sorry I dont have the answer either but I have the exact same symptoms + I have a hard time staying asleep. Im a little older than you (28) but I went to a doc for the same complaints and he prescribed me sleeping pills. I didnt have my T levels checked because im in the military so that would mark me as a good target for drug testing. Please update this thread if you do get an answer and I will do the same. GOOD LUCK!!

I will update on progress in the coming weeks.

go see an endo. some family practice docs are great and well informed in all aspects of medicine, some are not.

Aetna sucks, i have them. make sure your docs are in network or else insuance will screw you. i dont think you will need a referal, except so that you have a good recommendation of an endo to go to. but i dont think you will need it for ins purposes
