Read in my home newspaper that Atkins Diet has gained credibility. Some researchers put patients on the Atkins diet and put some on moderate carb, low fat diet. Then, looked at their lipid profiles and weight loss. Basically, the Atkins patients lost more weight, raised their HDL's, and lowered their triglycerides over the others. They claimed that LDL's remained the same. The most important stat in measuring risk of cardiovascular problems is the LDL:HDL ratio. The Atkins diet normalizes this ratio dramatically compared to the mod carb/low fat diet. The conclusion: More research into the Atkins Diet. Duh!!
