Lost sound with new hard drive????

Yes, I know I have a lot of computer problems thank you.

New one is that my sound system is not working with the new hard drive and completely replaced operating system etc.

It is a standard Yamaha computer sound system A good one at that.

I have it plugged into the green mini plug on the sound card.

This computer had XP Media. Now it has XP Pro.

sounds like a driver issue. did you download and install the sound drivers for your souncard/onboard sound?

All of the sound devices say they are working properly. The sound system is also plugged in. I get a response when I plug the mini into the sound card.

Even so it's probably a driver issue. If you don't have the disk that came with your soundcard, down one of the manufacturers website.

what type of computer is it?

HP Media Center ________

I took off the covers a long time ago since I like easy access for upgardes.

It has a Pent 2.5

Working good right now. New hard drive solved some issues.

there should be a code on your comp so you can go to their website and look up your model to get all the correct drivers

Bingo...new drivers fixed it.

You are my hero jestro. :)

I bet you simply need to update the sound drivers bro..

Not sure if that will do it for sure, but its worth a try at least.

Yea...good efforts all around.

But I didn't know I could have driver issues in spite of my puter saying all is cool with drivers, ala....."this device is working properly."

Fuckin' Gates

windows has most of the drivers to connection readily available, but it would be tough to be keep updated with every manufacturer's different drivers.

people complain about microsoft a lot.

They should deal with the alternative if they are so unhappy: Linux/Unix based OS's and mac's p.o.s. geigh OS

MAC owners are generally pretty happy with their puter.

All I want from Gates is 3 years of my life back. :)

What happens when you do a Windows update?

Reminds me of a thread I need to do.

go in and manually select which ones are relevant.

One of them is the piracy one, uncheck it, click "do not remind me about this update again" and you're golden.

I dont think they send out that update anymore though - I havent seen it.

Windows update disabled my fav program that cost me almost $200. Pissed me off. I bought it from a computer store. I installed it with assistance from the manufacturer. Bogus.

there are plenty of windows wga hacks out there that bypass their bullshit 'protection'.

wga is pretty much spyware - i dont like MS snooping around my computer, thank you very much.

and yes, i paid for my copy of xp pro

that is microsoft's lame-ass attempt at curbig piracy. what it does is snoop your HD and send god-only-knows what information back to microsoft.

most sane people won't like WGA.

did you get your sound working? what version of windows are you using?

Yes I did. Just had to install the drivers from Creatives web site. Took an unusual amount of doing however.

I bought XP Pro fror my new hard drive.

Nice to have an OS since I keep losing hard drives.
