Some of you may recall that I have sleep apnea. I didn't realise what a profound effect it had on my physique and hormome level.

No Oxygen means no calorie burning.

Well I've been on the cpap machine for a few weeks now, and I actually dropped 30lbs (a lot of it was water).

I feel great, lots of energy and I can think clearly now, I've been back at the gym and eating clean and things are improving dramatically.

I also started a cycle of deca/EQ/low dose dbol for a few weeks now...haven't been on in so long.

I am an awful snorer as well....probably have sleep apnea....I had an appliance made that keeps my lower jaw protruded.....no more snoring and my girl and I can sleep in the same bed together.....

I know of at least two or three people that have those, they love them. One guy was told his apnea was so bad he was the worse they had seen and he wasn't really sleeping lol.

is the cpap machine that thing that looks like a gas mask?

Yes, sometimes I like to pretend I'm in the air force..J/K

My girlfriend can finally get some rest. No more snoring and waking up screaming. lol

do you think that is a good idea considering your disorder?

Hey bro, same with me, my apnea was so bad, the doctors called me as soon as they got the sleep test results.

He basically said if I was 8-10 years older, I would have died. I was getting 10 secs of REM sleep a night for 4-5 months. I would actually fall asleep on the toilet. lol Wake up an hour later wondering what happened.

My resting heartrate before the machine was 144! The nurse couldn't beleive it. Sex drive was a mess as well. Plus, at one point I blew up to 290lbs (at 5'8)

I had many blood tests done, and the doctor said I'm perfectly fine during the day. The masks makes me normal...better than normal, I have so much energy it's hard to sleep. Plus my resting heartrate is back to normal.

Plus it's not excessive: 200mg of Deca and 300mg of Eq every 5 days. The dbol I may use if I feel the need and I may add 100mg of test every 5 days if sex drive goes down.

30 pds in 2 weeks -- Holy crap!!!!!

What a roller coaster it must have been!

I am cutting and have dropped 12 pounds in the last 14 days, and I thought that was insane.... I really have no idea how u felt then.....

Weird man... that's the first I've heard of this kinda thing... interesting to say the least... I'm gunna go read about it...

GREAT! I was bloated and I could hardly put my shoes on. Now I feel like a whole new person.

Good to hear about your improvement on your condition, bro. Sometimes I think I have the same problem. After sleeping for lots of hours, I still feel shitty, and fall asleep during meetings, behind my computer etc. Anyway, here is an interesting article about gear and apnea:

The short-term effects of high-dose testosterone on sleep, breathing, and function in older men.

Liu PY, Yee B, Wishart SM, Jimenez M, Jung DG, Grunstein RR, Handelsman DJ.

Department of Andrology, ANZAC Research Institute and Concord Hospital, University of Sydney, Sydney, 2139 Australia.

Androgen therapy may precipitate obstructive sleep apnea in men. Despite increasing androgen use in older men, few studies have examined sleep and breathing. Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies examining effects of testosterone simultaneously on sleep, breathing, and function in older men are not available. Seventeen community-dwelling healthy men over the age of 60 yr were randomized to receive three injections of im testosterone esters at weekly intervals (500 mg, 250 mg, and 250 mg) or matching oil-based placebo and then crossed over to the other treatment after 8 wk of washout. Polysomnography, anthropometry, and physical, mental, and metabolic function were assessed at baseline and after each treatment period. Testosterone treatment reduced total time slept ( approximately 1 h), increased the duration of hypoxemia ( approximately 5 min/night), and disrupted breathing during sleep (total and non-rapid eye movement respiratory disturbance indices both increased by approximately seven events per hour) (all P < 0.05). Despite expected effects on body composition (increase in total and lean mass, reduction in fat mass, P < 0.05, bioimpedance method), upper airway dimensions did not change (acoustic reflectometry). Driving ability (computer simulation), physical activity (accelerometry, Physical Activity Scale in the Elderly), quality of life (SF36, Functional Outcomes of Sleep Questionnaire), mood (Profile of Mood States Questionnaire), sleepiness (Epworth, Stanford scales), and insulin resistance (homeostasis model) also were not changed by treatment. Short-term administration of high-dose testosterone shortens sleep and worsens sleep apnea in older men but did not alter physical, mental, or metabolic function. These changes did not appear to be due to upper airway narrowing. Further study of longer-term lower-dose androgen therapy on sleep and breathing is needed to evaluate its safety in older men.

Lots of bodybuilders have that problem but it is never addressed. It's incredible what kind of negative effects sleep apnea can have on you.

Andy, I know a surgeon in Indiana who does wonder for this problem, his name is Steven James and is a resident MD at Lilly Corp.

Call Lilly and ask for Dr. James e-mail and write to him.

I snore like a freight train but I don't have sleep apnea. I wish I could find something that fixed it...I'm driving women off.

good for you.....I kinda felt bad for you reading your earlier posts and was hoping I'd see something like this one day.

I've always wondered if I had this condition....just never got around to scheduling the whole 'sleep study' thing.

I will look into it when I have time, Thanks!

As far as the sleep study, it's hell...lol but it's important.

Dial_tone, there is an operation available for snoring(a very painful one), you won't be able to eat for 2 weeks.

EngiCream. Tahnks for the thought.

Congrats man, I know it feels fucking awesome.

Before I ever started lifting, I used to always be a chubby guy. Growing up I was always chubby. Like 120lbs in 6th grade and 200lbs in the 9th grade, even though I was always very tall (usually tallest in whole grade, or right up there).

One day I decided to diet down and lost all the fat, and damn did it feel awesome. I felt like the whole world was all mine. :) I could actually finish the mile now!!!

Keep doing what you are doing, and you'll reach your goal (whatever it may be). :)
