Looking for Trainer

Hi Girls,

Was hoping you could give me some ideas when searching for a good trainer.
I currently have one but I feel I need a change.

Thanks CC

Haven't you had pretty consistent problems with this trainer over the past year or so?

Trainers are a dime a dozen and some have fake certs. Some things I think to look for is a CSCS. That way you know they have at least a bachelor's, they've taken a test and passed a hands on practical test as well. In my humble opinion CSCS's are the best. Also ACSM is very good.

Then it comes down to "Do they listen" Do they care what you want? Do they inspire you to do more than you could every do on your own? Do they spend all of their time telling you how great they are or how great they think you are doing?

Just some thoughts. I know next to nothing about anabolics, but I've been a trainer for 9 years and I'm a cscs so maybe I'm biased, and I don't train right now due to cancer, but those are the things I would look for if I were in the market.

I'm a trainer and I think alot of other trainers are bad. I'll just say thats my opinion but I think its true. Its hard to tell if a trainer is good . You have to go by word of mouth.

I've also seen trainers with degrees and certs that still suck.

PGirl is right-- Ive gone thru at least 5 trainers & most the certified/degreed ones are bad :(

imo-- the best PTs are the guys that used to compete (bodybuilding/powerlifting) & know their sport & are now training competitors. Watch them train & talk to their clients.

NSCA(CSCS CERTEFIED) NASM FOR CERTS, EXPERIENCE AND ALSO A GOOD NUTRTION PROGRAM DESIGNED FOR YOU NO B.S DIETS FOR SHORT AMOUNT OF TIMES LIKE LOW CARB OR ANY OF THEM ,UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING TO COMPETE. ALSO LOOK FOR A FACILITY THAT YOU LIKE AND A TRAINER THAT HAS GOOD QUEMISTRY WITH YOU. SIT DOWN WITH A COUPLE OF TRAINERS AND LISTEN NEVER TELL THEM THAT YOU NEED A TRAINER,ONLY THAT YOU ARE CURIOUS TO LISTEN HOW THEY WORK WITH THEIR CLIENTS . BEEN A TRAINER FOR 8 YEARS AND YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT SOME OF THE BEST TRAINERS ARE ALSO THE BEST SALESPEOPLE. GOOD LUCK AND DEF. DO IT BECAUSE YOU ARE PROBABLY ON A PLATEAU WITH YOUR TRAINER.

Latinlover I can't agree with you more.... sorry for the delay in my response.
B Fold I learned alot from this trainer but I just need a change.
I did get the impression from my trainer it was about $$$$$
not to say I don't understand it is a "business".
How do you find a trainer that used to compete???

Thanks in advance for your help
CC :D
