To give a short background of myself.. I am 21 years old, and I'm graduating from college next month w/ a degree that would allow me to (hopefully) get a job in the IT field. I am working for a software development company now as an intern and sending out resumes looking for positions. Now on to my delima.....
About 4 years ago I worked for a pretty big company out of high school but I was at the low-end of the stick.. meaning I was one of the grunt workers (manual labor). Last week I contacted the operations manager at my old workplace concerning a reference. He gave me a reference to the IT manager at the companies headquarters, whom I spoke with briefly about some positions. Well today, I recieved an email from the operations manager whom I had contacted about the reference. He wants to know if I am interested in coming back and going through an upper-management training program for 1 year and then starting a career with their company in the management staff. After the training program, the job has great benefits.. insurance, car and good pay. All of this sounds great.... but I have a degree in something completely different. I can't say I'm not interested in going back to work there and taking this position but I sorta had my goals set to enter the IT field (if I can find a good job).
But anyways.. here I am... 21 years old, almost a graduate.. sitting here with dollar signs flashing through my head. Wondering... should I wait and try to find a job in what I am trained for and love? Or should I accept this position and go ahead and start my career doing something else and possibly end up loving it too? SO confused.........
