Looking for a DVR...

Basically I want a digital VCR - but something that can hook up to my laptop so I can burn to DVDs or whatever... But I only have a laptop, not a desktop, so no tvcard for me... (yes this would be the easy solution)

Something that does not require a subscription, can hook up with or without cable box, and preferrable will work with standard and HD cable...

Is there anything out there for me?

And if there isn't than that sucks.

Pinnacle systems make a USB based HDTV tuner that comes with software so that you can capture video to HDD and burn it to DVD if you so choose.

It has your standard Vid inputs as well.. ah hell hang on i'll get your lame ass the link..

just click on the hair or whatever you added that you want to take off, and a little box with an X will pop up that will allow you to delete it.

I see what you are getting at though... you want this thing to work offline, then be able to hookup to your compture and burn to DVD.

WORD - exactly. I want to be able to record mad amounts of shit and burn it if I like it.

That pinnacle one looked cool though - the HD capability is what set it apart from the other stuff I saw listed.

But my laptop HD is jammed up as it is. Definite drawback.
