Senator George Allen (R-VA) may have gotten in a bit over his head, this morning, on Meet the Press. On private accounts, he suggested that Americans might have to sell their homes to survive in retirement. But, that would be a good thing, because they wouldn't have to trim hedges and cut grass, he noted.

That's pretty funny.

Most people look at their homes as their principal retirement asset anyway.

I like oxygen

Are you so desperate you need to manufacture a point?

Or didnt you bother reading the second paragraph?

"In fact, he was trying to reassure people who are uncomfortable about investing in the stock market with private accounts. So, he recognized that those who do, might reduce their retirement savings in the event of a market downturn (I hear those happen once in awhile). But, he thinks allowing your own home to be your investment would get around that. Although, it would force you to sell it when you retire in order to feed yourself. "

Sen GA sounds as slippery as a greased eel

it's funny how these guys have mastered the art of being able to back out and talk around anything without giving direct answers

How do you get more direct than suggesting people should be allowed to invest their SS funds in their own homes?

LOL

You may not agree with the suggestion, and I certainly don't, but its hardly comparable to the dems "no plan" to save SS

i was refering more to the 'do you or dont you oppose the president' question

no such thing as a yes or no answer with these guys....its an art

Its the fault of the press.

I have less trpuble with the lack of a direct answer than I do the outright lies and or misrepresentations which are allowed to go unchallenged. If they simply devoted a segment occxasionally to pointing those out to the public politicians would be far less likely to resort to them so often
