p2p networks, especially those like kazaa and limewire, are totally awesome if you enjoy receiving letters from the RIAA and MPAA.
plus, they always have fakes, shitty rips, and a seclection that sucks donkey balls.

the deftones cd has been out on the internet for about 6 weeks now. it took about 4 hours to hit every major torrent site after it was first released. it probably took limewire 5 1/2 weeks to get it.
what's the bitrate? do you know its not a web-rip / transcode? do you know it is legit when you are downloading it, or do you find out only after you listen to it?
are you willing to put yourself in such jeopardy with the RIAA and MPAA?
i'm telling you guys, p2p networks are not safe.

isohunt is good for finding common stuff.
the speeds are nowhere near oink's, but you can find a shit load of stuff on there.
i have downloaded A LOT of stuff on isohunt, and i have NEVER had any problems.
don't expect instant gratification, though.
these are averages (remember, it depends on the ratio of seeders to leechers)
400 meg file -- 2 hours
1 gig -- 5 hours
4 gigs -- 13 hours
basically, use isohunt on a computer you just have specifically set up for downloading. i usually just que up my downloads and let them sit for about 24 hours.
this way i come home, see all sorts of cool new shit, and then go from there.
never had a problem with fakes, virii, or load times.
currently using it to download ~20 gigs of stuff.

Use torrentportal and azereus to get limewire pro. Or add me to msn at [email protected] and ill send it to you. Youll get every song you download in like 30 seconds.
any large file like a movie or tv series, use bittorrent. It is so much faster.

Is it really that easy to get caught on Limewire? Whats the percentage of users that are caught?
I thought you could usually only get caught if you were uploading something illegal.
I have heard that on bittorrent its just as likely that one can get caught too, because all they need is your IP address which they could get through either program. (unless you have some type of proxy)

ok, let me give you guys the run down on the difference between p2p and torrent sites.
p2p are the best way to get caught, because that is what your average internet user knows how to use - because any retard could do it. plus, p2p networks are far more 'mainstream' than torrent sites.
secondly, any respectable torrent site makes everyone maintain a ratio of downloaded to uploaded data. if they don't maintain it, they get kicked off and banned. if someone uploads shit, it gets reported and removed (unlike p2p networks where shit just spreads)
so, if someone needs to upload just as much as they download, how could the RIAA and MPAA stay on to catch people? they would have to be actively downloading or uploading to 'catch' a person, but then they too would be breaking the law.
plus, bots get sniffed out pretty quickly on any respectable torrent site.

I am surprised the porn industry has not statrted lawsuits. Porn generates more money per year than the NFL, NBA and MLB. I think they generate more money than Hollywood too.

ok, the number one thing that is going to get someone caught right now is downloading movies that are in the theater. most people i read about or see first hand getting caught are those downloading bootlegs of movies still in the theater.
the more exclusive the torrent site, the less of a chance you have getting caught. however, i download shit to backup all of my legally purchased stuff on all sorts of sites, and i really don't stress at all.
also, i have NEVER picked up anything on a torrent site that contained a virus/spyware/malware. since most sites say who uploaded it and since people can post feedback on each and every torrent, it is quite hard to get a virus. if it registered with anyone else, they would surely post on there and the torrent would get nuked with the quickness.
and as for music, most torrents are going to be full albums rather than singles. but you want just one song, right? no problem. use a program like utorrent and just pick the song you wish to download, and it will just download that one song, rather than the entire album.
