those spotters all just sorta stood around and looked at each other like tools. I hope he didn't hurt his neck either

Not to mention that lifter needs to get a realistic view of his capabilities.

Your comment is irrelevant. Max attempts aren't something you just joyfully cruise out of the rack with, hence the term max attempt. I simply believe spotters need to be more alert from opening attempts to last attempts.

Sorry, dude, but I respectfully disagree. I would never try to bench 100 lbs more than I thought I was capable of. I didn't get to see the movie (link is broken) but I say that if you can't even stabilize the weight after getting help unracking, there is no way you'll be able to lift the damn thing. You should push yourself on max attempts but not unrealistically so. Safety first! :-D

Maybe we watched a different video. The guy had absolutely not control over that weight from the start. I don't put 405 on the bar to bench if I can only get 315 for 2.

on one not walking out with the weight is very hard relative to the beginneing of the squat because you are using one leg transitional patterns

He was shaking the moment the weight touched him all the way till he got stuck.

true, but from experience I have a harder time walking out with the weight than actually squatting it, I am not talking about him but just in general, when I walk out with anything over 405 it seems really heavy until I start squating, then again I walk out quit a ways
