EVer think that maybe you are the one weariing blinders and when death comes upon you and the blinders will be ripped off and you will be a place torment for eternity. The worse that can happen to me if you are right is I will just cease to exist you on the other hand and what you will face is scary to even think about. I pray that your eyes will one day be open before death takes you.
What you are referring to is known as Pascal's theorem. He was a bit of a drinker and a heavy gambler in his early life. He later decided he was done with that and devote his time to a religion he found he liked.
He tried to bring others in via that and then later attempted other scientific looking/sounding type things to try to help people out.
The downside being that the logic there is considered weak by many, but never by those that believe already.
I could just as easily argue the revese that I could avoid any of the hassle of the religion and live easily and without any of those nasty hassles that religions impose on us - if I'm right, then I don't change - I die just the way I thought I would and all is dark.
Or I die and it turns out there is a God - well hot damn, lucky me, a benevolent all powerful deity was there all the time - bummer I was wrong.
But since you are allowed to make any assumptions you want - for instance that there is a God and that I'm wrong, I can then make assumptions that anything else is wrong as well - so I will just go ahead and assume that the all powerful and wonderful God that can overlook all will go ahead and not burn me for an eternity, and I win out.
Either way, it doesn't really matter.
You are perfectly happy the way you are, and I'm perfectly happy the way I am.
Better yet, we both feel that we ourselves are right.
I'm gonna keep thinking you are a moron though if that is okay.
