Lets talk about thyroid testing...

Ok, so here's the deal. I started dieting about 2.5-3 years ago now, and I did very well for about 6 months. I weighed about 300lbs with probably 35% bodyfat, but still had some amount of muscle on me. I started doing a very restrictive diet, going as low as 800 calories a day for a week straight. My norm, however, was about 1200 cals a day. At some point after that 6 month period, I got down to 225lbs and the fat loss just stopped. I've never been able to replicate those results. I was using ECA stacks, but I didn't do a lick of cardio.

Fast forward to the present... I'm in the navy now, I still have a good deal of fat to lose (I'm around 18-20% now), but I'm still unable to get anywhere.

Could that 6 months of heavy calorie restriction have permanently affected my thyroid? I do notice that I'm tired on a regular basis, and I have sleeping problems (I wake up at night a lot) that my doc put me on meds for.

Also, I've just started doing a cycle just over 3 weeks ago. Being that i'm in the navy, if I request a thyroid test, will they be able to easily see that i'm on? (using test e, tren e, and winny)

Will running AAS affect thyroid levels at all?

Thanks!

Definitely have the tests run. Have them check TSH, T4, and Free T3. They won't know that you're using AAS unless the specifically look for it. It sounds like your thyroid is low.

Post your diet and training.

If you're at a lower bodyweight now, you're obviously going to lose weight more slowly than you did at 300lbs.

I doubt you did any long-term damage to your thyroid.

By the way, I've done as much as 45 min a day 6days a week of high intensity cardio on a 2200 cal diet. At that point, I was at 240, about 20% body fat... lifting about 4-5 days a week....

My diet has changed over the years, but it has always been geared towards high protein, low-moderate carbs and low-moderate fat. Right now, its moderate carbs and moderate fat.

We need way more detailed information. How many calories, macronutrient ratios, etc.

After they check your thyroid I would change your diet to a 40/40/20 of carbs, protein, and fats. Cut out the cardio for about 8 weeks. Train 4-5 days a week. And eat about 3000-3500 cals/day. You won't get fat. You need to reset your metabolism. Get plenty of sleep, stay away from partying, and drink lots of water.

Like I said, my diet has changed a lot. Currently, I'm eating about 3000-3500 cals (soooooo sick of dieting), about 300g protein, 300g carbs, 90g fat (this is a rough calc). however, prior to this, I've done diets consisting of 50/20/30 p/f/c, 50/30/20 p/f/c, and up to 60/20/20 p/f/c. I've also done the low carb diets with less than 20g carbs per day, and low fat diets, with less than 20g fat per day (still moderate on carbs tho).
