I 've got one I started a while back (and will resume next week once I get over this sprung ankle):
I'd been following a Westside template and was trying to figure a new way to mix things up. I thought it would be a cool idea to learn the olympic lifts. I realize Westside Barbell lifters don't do the olys, but I had the desire to learn and understand what they were. I'm not training for competition, so I have the luxery to experiment. I started with the partials, (from the hang, overhead squat, etc.) instead of the usual assistance work. Not only do you re-learn speed and explosive power, but you use muscle groups in totally new ways- also great for GPP. I also figure anything I suck so bad in is indicative of a defiency which needs to be addressed. I like the fact that I'm doing compound movements that aren't limited to the same 3 expressions of force.
And the enthusiasm is back.
