Let's hear everyone's tips for Traveling & Training!

Started a new job about a year ago and it involves a decent amount of travel. Beyond that, the travel is usually full of being hectic and on the run 24/7. So, hitting the hotel weight room, going for a nice jog around the city, and seeking out a bunch of nutritious meals isn't always possible. Interested in hearing everyone's tips, secrets, experiences and thoughts on how not to get too far off track while traveling.

Some of mine:

- I recenlty bought this little guy, which helps to keep my various pills in order and also stores protein powder, creatine, whatever. It comes with a drink mixer as well.

- I bring Jump Stretch resistance bands with me, which you can get pretty damn creative with when there is no gym around and you are strapped for time all crammed up in a tiny ass hotel room.

what kind of work out are you looking for? you could always find a local gym located where ever you are at, and either pay for a day pass, or ask if they offer a free day to test the gym out

in a perfect world, I would be able to do that. but 99% of my travel involves working at events, so I am on the go 24/7. I am very lucky to get one full meal in each day and even more lucky if I can get more than 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night. So I am really just looking to stay active and stay on track with the eating.

Don't forget to pack your grippers. :)

Single-legged squats are about the best I can suggest. You can get real deep from a table or sturdy chair. You can do dips between two chair backs. After that you're mostly down to pushups and your bands.

good point, you should have seen the look I got when they scanned my bag at the Super Bowl and they couldn't figure out what the hell that weird metal contraption was!

Nice idea 2 gallons of water is about 20 pounds (or 16 in America, must be the reduced gravity over there). Adequate weight to get a pump and burn from with enough reps. Now if he were carrying 4 gallons of mercury that'd be a different matter.

hey....whatever u know....use ur head.....deadlift the dresser in ur hotel room...i duno....go out in ur hotel and see if they have a small fitness center

i'm in the navy so i have to spend alot of time on a floating tin can and have to improvise alot. Push ups rock. Try changing your grip around or elevating your legs. do handstand pushups. Shitloads of ab exercise. Find something somewhere to hang off of and do chins. strap on the shoes and pound the pavement. My fave is called a planche. Squat down, put your hands on the ground in front of you bout a shoulder width apart. Now take your legs off the ground and try to support your own body weight for 60 seconds. Will take months to accomplish and takes intense concentration and phenominal amounts of strength. Good luck!

I recently found a very complete routine that includes flexibility training and core strengthm, which can be done on the road with minimal equipment

doesn't do much for size but it keeps me feeling functional, which I like
