Lets compare some ethics..............

1) Clinton lied about a blowjob. Motivation.....save his ass. Backfired...big time. Got impeached.

Bush lied about a war. Motivation.......billions for his gang were and are being realized. In the process....we lost goodwill from most of the civilized world.

Is it just me or am I right when I think that our power brokers are corrupt as hell???

Dude don't kid yourself - the rest of the world hated us before... any of them would kill to be in our position...

Jealousy knows no boundaries but we have progressed well beyond jealosy in the international arena.

U.S. foreign policy has angered other nations and splinter groups for a long time, true. However, the level of discontent and outright hatred has never been anywhere remotely close to what has been achieved under dubya's dubious leadership.

Yeah- hate to see what would happen if we did everything we could be doing...

Perhaps the truly meaningful thing is the legions of previously patriotic Americans who are aghast at our international policies..........as well as domestic.

We appear to not give a flying fuck about anybody who is worth less than a million although we use the rest to try to win re-election.

The question is............are we dumb enough to fall for these blatant Machievellian tactics?

funny cause I do see lots of truely aghast people posting up on this thread...

I think the Country's most upset with the USA were the ones in bed with Iraq! Amazing what you uncover when you pull back the sheets!
We were Iraq's greatest fuck Princess. We were the #1 buyer of Iraqi oil before we decided it best to kick her out of bed.

Everybody who imported M.E. oil was in bed with Iraq.

We might have been buying....but we we weren't selling them arms for sheeeet sake
We gave Iraq a ton of weapons of mass destruction when Iraq was facing off with Iran. This is what makes this all so extremely hypocritical.

International policy making is the playground of satanic forces in my opinion.

That would hardly make one an expert - maybe at voicing opinions/information one heard from their instructors, but not much else....

america's foreign standing took a big hit and it wasn;t just due to the war

Never even said that I was knowledgeable. I was responding to the derision in hamstermans post.

If one is going to be derisive, they should be more knowledgeable than the one being derided. No?

No, you did not say that you were knowledgeable, but you did imply that you were of a higher knowledge base in this area than he, based on the classroom time...

try using some different words instead of derivations of derisive too...

abusive, arrogant, audacious, aweless, back-biting, bantering, belittling, biggety, bitchy, blackening, blameful, bluff, bold, booing, brash, brassy, brazen, bumptious, calumniatory, calumnious, catcalling, catty, censorious, chaffing, challenging, cheeky, chutzpadik, cocky, condemnatory, contemptuous, contumelious, crusty, damnatory, daring, defamatory, defiant, defying, denunciatory, deprecative, deprecatory, depreciative, depreciatory, derisory, derogative, derogatory, detractory, discourteous, disdainful, disparaging, disregardful, disrespectful, execrating, execrative, execratory, facy, fleering, flip, flippant, fooling, fresh, gally, gratuitous, greatly daring, grinning, hissing, hooting, impertinent, impudent, insolent, invective, inveighing, irreverent, jeering, joshing, judgmental, kidding, leering, libelous, malapert, minimizing, mocking, nervy, objurgatory, panning, pejorative, pert, priggish, quizzical, ragging, railing, rallying, razzing, regardless of consequences, reproachful, reprobative, reviling, ridiculing, roasting, rude, sassy, saucy, scandalous, scoffing, scurrile, scurrilous, slanderous, slighting, smart, smart-alecky, smart-ass, smirking, sneering, snickering, sniggering, snorting, taunting, teasing, twitting, uncalled-for, vilifying, vituperative, wise-ass

AIDS policies, Kyoto, Trade with Europe

I can' think of any more of the top of my head but these three are biggies, which the rest of the world has questionedand definately could have been handled better

well everyone else IS without fault, so I guess they are right, we really are bad people....

(just kidding dude)

well all three of them being fair are open to interpretation...as the first could be seen as what he genuinely believed would bring AIDS rates down (he's an idiot IMO if he actually believes this and isnt just throwing his hard right supporters a bone)

part of me thinks he may have had the right idea with number 2 as there is some science to back his stance, but his record about letting industry self regulate in Texas makes me think otherwise and there is also evidence in favour of kyoto

and the trade thing could be seen as acting in favour of his people

however all three showed a blatant disregard for the world, and i believe all three demonstrate his unwillingness to oppose his financial supporters.

the war on terror hasnt helped matters at all, and while most anti-bush supporters I've spoken to have little substance to their hate of him, there are legitamate reasons why I wouldnt want him as president, right wing or not

What did he do concerning AIDS, save not open the national treasury to the special interest groups, that has pissed you and others off?

part of me thinks he may have had the right idea with number 2 as there is some science to back his stance, but his record about letting industry self regulate in Texas makes me think otherwise and there is also evidence in favour of kyoto

Please tell us why you think the industry cannot regulate itself, yet the king of wasteful spenders, worthless programs and abusers of power (government) somehow can?

For another perspective aside from the "doomsayers" on Texas, read this:
http://www.texaspolicy.com/pdf/2000-04-01-environ-index.pdf

and the trade thing could be seen as acting in favour of his people

Which trade policy are we talking about? I would hope our officials act in our best interest; I cannot fathom why they would do otherwise.

however all three showed a blatant disregard for the world, and i believe all three demonstrate his unwillingness to oppose his financial supporters.

Actually, in the above cases (I don't support Bush on many issues) it seems he is acting in the best interest of the US. If this enriches some, I see no problem until one can show me how his actions are unethical.

just that he decided to go for a program promoting abstinence, which was clearly pandering to the right/religious funders....it diverted money away from the condom promotion program which has seen results

That didn't make a whole bunch of people happy

i was referring to industry being allowed to regulate its own emissions in texas. you can never trust companies to do anything other than create profit, and that can be dangerous.

I agree, but in doing so he angered a lot of europeans. the arguement wasnt whether what he had done was the wrong thing to do in his position but why America's PR may have taken a hit other than the war on terror

Public funds should not go to either.

But I showed you that this has not been the case. Plus the idea that business only focuses on profit at the expense of ethics is myopic. The vast majority of companies regulate themselves effectively, unlike government. But you are correct, in that I don't "trust" companies to do anything; what I trust is the power of the market within our legal structure to regulate itself.

the figures look good, i only saw info on respiratory cases located round industrial plants increasing after Bush allowed their self reg.
