This came to me in an email recently. just a heads up to all.
Quadsweep
There have been a couple sources on the domestic side that are either being
watched and or have recently been busted or even possibly cooperating with
authorities. One source I know emailed me last Thursday letting me know the cops
just called him at work and wanted him to come in for questioning. The day
before he had a package taken by the Federal Postal Inspector from a mailboxes
etc. and he left his card. This is a pretty unagressive approach to getting
someone which leads me to believe they may be telling him to cooperate and they
won't bust him. The last I heard from him was on that Thursday, we have emailed
each other multiple times everyday Monday-Friday for the past 4 months and
relied on each other for some things. Now he is gone.
I think everyone on the board needs to be aware that because of that stupid
BusinessWeek article some extra eyes may be assigned to watch us for a time to
see how much damage they could do quick. I know it is way too easy to jump on,
make some friendly posts, make a couple intelligent replies/posts, make some
false friendships and then start asking for sources. Honestly it only takes a
couple days.
My suggestion for the benefit of sources and members is to suggest to people to
put a freeze on passing source info -Especially domestic. If a source needs
some new business he will find a way to get more people. But right now people
don't really know who they are talking to. They could have spent the last 2
weeks getting to know a Fed and not know it. I don't want to post this because
I don't want to draw attention to my screen name. I'm not a source but it's
possible they have my info now and I don't need anyone looking at me in my local
area. I don't need the heat. Let me know what you think. Just an FYI to get
people to be really careful.
O.K. now I just finished reading through that sticky and that's pretty much the
gist of it. I saw that up there for days but never read through, I thought it
was referring to posting sources or areas but alot of people jumped in about not
giving anyone new a source. Maybe just "Source Freeze". I guess we will wait
and see, but too many things are going down and it's the members pointing out
where to go.
