Legs... it just doesn't seem to be working...

ok i've been following this board for a litle while now.. and i have realized that a good bunch of you guys give a lot of importance to legs... squatting and everything...

i give them attention too but it seems they're responding pretty slowly... upper and calves .. the whole thing

i wanna get them bigger...
i wanna get my calves bigger too.. (i might be one of those people who can't get their calves big !? i know it exists)

that's my training
more/less reps ? more/less sets ? different exercises ?

Squats:
5x5 @ 260lbs

Leg Extension:
3x8 @ 135lbs - 135lbs - 140lbs

Lying Leg Curls:
3x8 @ 90lbs - 95lbs - 95lbs

Seated Heel Raise:
3x12 @ 115lbs - 120lbs - 125lbs

HELP PLEASE !
Thanks

How long have you been doing 5x5? Probably, the most important thing you can do is change something, given that you should be eating a lot if you want growth.

Try some SLDs, romanian deads, 1-leg squats, lunges, front squats, zerches squats etc... Try some new rep schemes... Work your legs more frequently (HST, DC etc...).

Plenty of changes you can make.

leg press + sldls
standing/seated calf raises work well for me
are you targetting the tibalis anterior? its a small msucle compared to its counter part

You have to eat to grow...you have to rest properly...you have to train like you mean it...you have to have some freaking patience

Got a few flaws I see. Need to have a high squat rep set. I know but one set to 20reps after you do 5x5 might help. Next you need SLDL or romanians. Next skip the leg ext and learn to front squat, then go to calf raise high rep slow contractions and good Rom

What is your height, weight, and thigh measurement?

Your routine is lighter than mine, but then again DC trainers do less than you do and get good results.

I struggle for leg size. I've had several serious injuries over the years... oddly my legs are very very strong... but size has not followed my level of strength.

Less is more, in my opinion. I like 1x5 squats, 2x5 leg curls. That's it.

I put on some good size doing one set of quads and one set of hams 3x/week. Have you tried a higher-frequency program?

justy play around with your exercises and fine tune what works and what doesn't. Everyones different, as far as having small calves, i feel you. I blast mine 2-3 times a week, they are strong as shit, but a pair of toothpicks still make me jealous

Brings to mind a odd anecdote... the biggest thighs I ever saw in my life didn't belong to a bodybuilder. The guy was a down hill speed ski champ. He was ranked #5 in the world for his time.

The guy's thighs were massive, massive, massive... and he never squated or touched a leg press.

I met him at a meeting with Don Long, the mountain climber screen writer. Don was also a well known skier with massive thighs... and Don weight trained. This guys legs made Don's look like toothpicks.
