Legs got bigger with cardio??

I kid you not. I occassionally do squats and deadlifts and saw some results. But lately I have been climbing stairs and running for cardio and my quads have grown a little, but my calfs are way bigger. I thought my calves had reached their genetic limit, but with the long sustained burn I get from stair climbing, they are growing and this is with a low calorie diet. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this common, or were my legs just that much out of shape?
 
For endurance exerices the muscle cells will enlarge to hold more glucose, but their strength will not increase just the energy storage. This is often not a tight chiseled looks that BBer's are after though.
 
The stepper will put size on your quads, glutes and calves depending on how you step. That's why it cracks me up when I see girls going to town on the stepper...do you think they're really looking to get a bigger ass? Chicks should stay away from the stepper!

I guess I'm one of the few chicks who IS looking to get a bigger ass. Squats, deads, and sprints have helped, but maybe I'll give that stepper a try :biggrin:
