If you aren't doing anything illegal, you are fine. If you are involved in any way with your bud's dealings, you may want to lay low for some time. Back in high school, I wheeled and dealed a large amount of things. The cops never had enough on me personally though to ever do anything too serious. However, an aquaintenance of mine wasn't as careful with his doings and soon had the SLANT team all over him. SLANT stands for State Line Area Narcotics Team. The are basically a SWAT team designed to deal with drugs. Well, they started tracking him and tracking anyone involved with him. None of us knew this. He got busted about a month later. 15 guys in full riot gear with M-16s kicked in his door and nailed him. Shitty deal for him, but he was a minor and got off pretty easily. I got arrested on an unrelated charge about 2 months later. I was being interviewed by a state investigator (the arresting officer was fucking my gf and the state wanted to nail him. Whole different story) and he told me about the SLANT team and their involvement with my life. After they saw me chatting with my friend, they starting tracking me as well. They traced my phone (no taps, just trace) and kept track of who I was calling and who was calling me and at what time. The followed me every day for three months. They figured I would lead them up the chain. But like I said, I kept my dealings pretty air tight and they never got anything on me. But the fact remains, for 3 months these guys followed me around just for talking with my friend. They had document after document of my whereabouts. It was creepy. He showed me some of the files. "....left for school at 7:50am in a 1981 Buick Electra Limited, burgandy." "....met for lunch at ......;s market with ...., ...., and ....." It was pretty scarey to read.
