Leg size for an Ectomorph!! HELP!!

No matter how hard i train legs they just wont grow. I'm not sure if i am over training them or not training them enough. What do u pro's think?

I usually do legs once every 5 - 6 days but train heavy. My legs r usually sore for 3 - 4 days.

4 sets Leg press 12/10/8/4-6 reps heavy

4 sets squats 12/10/8/4-6 reps heavy

3 sets Leg press 10/8/6 - stripping down

3 sets ham curls 10/8/8 - stripping down

What am i doin wrong is it just genetics cause the rest of me is freakn huge just my legs dont wanna seem to grow?
 
hmmm...here's my 2 cents:

ditch leg presses altogther. Instead focus on yer squats...regular squats, also a lot of people around here highly endorse box squats.

add in stiff leg deadlifts on your leg day instead of ham curls. add in some calf work as well.

also, I would recomend regular deadlifts on your back day.


if doing heavy squats don't make you grow, you're doing something else wrong.
 
My arms and legs are like 8 feet long [which is unfortunate because i am only like 5'10"], so i am fairly ectomorphy... I have found that my quad size went up nicely from doing regular barbell squats nice and deep. My hamstrings aren't that big, but i have been doing stiff leg deads for a like two months now and i think i see some improvement, but nothing to get too excited about. Also, i know lots of people probably make fun of these exercises, but i found that leg adduction helped put some size on my inner thighs.

But, as i know, being an ectomorph can kinda suck :D More power to you dude! Good luck.

TY guys !!

I will rid leg presses and focus more on squats, deads, stiffy deads and hacks.

I am a retired gymnist so doin full motion of squats is easy for me my ass touches the ground everytime as i am really flexible.

Should i be focusing on heavy with less reps or do legs need high reps because u use them everyday?

i used to have very thin legs as well. Chicken legs you could say.

I have been doing 4 sets of regular squats and 3 sets of rock bottom squats all heavy at around 6 reps and i have put on shit loads of mass.

You should also try doing some sprints at a local aths track. Do about 10 60m sprints with resonable breaks. I find that this really supplements doing the squats. (not on the same day of course lol)
 
If you're an ectomorph you need to build core strength and endurance in your quads by doing HIGH rep sets, not low. Drop down to a weight that you can squat 25 reps with and do four sets with it. Progressively add 10 pounds per workout and do this for about two months. Only work legs once a week *very imporant). You will find that your legs will respond to high rep training. After the two months then you can begin mixing in the heavy, low rep workouts. It worked for me.
