Leg Press Pain...

Posted this in the wieghts forum..but since anabolics IS home...thought you guys could help me figure this out..

I started experiencing abdominal pain while doing leg presses??? Never have I had this problem but up until 2 weeks ago, everytime i went in deep (like normal) It felt like i was crushing my ribs/diaphram (and its not the weight im using because i lowered that too just in case)...when i get up off the leg press machine after doing the presses i feel like i couldnt catch my breath...Have a hard time breathing almost like someone just punched me in the stomach and knocked the wind out of me, and i know its not how im breathing during the set either..i have done leg presses for years!...the feeling last for almost the entire workout....explinations?? has anyone ever experienced this?

Hmmm interesting..thanks for the link...but its not because of the "wieghts" either....started with a warm up of just 45lbs on each side...same pain...funny thing is...I can squat...and squat heavy with no stomach pain?

Sounds like your straining your diaphram somehow..... Now whether it's a hernia pressing on it, or maybe you have too much belly fat? That I can't tell ya...... Everything you describe tells me something is pressing on your diaphram, which is pretty easy to do with a Leg Press..... I wouldn't assume something is medically wrong with you bro..... One suggestion, when youre doing Leg press, put your feet up as high on the plate as you can..... Like if youre doing Calf raises on a Leg Press, your feet are on the bottom? Well, put them in the oppisite spot, the Top part..... This way, when you come down with the weight, your knees won't be crushing your Ab area as much..... It might help..... Also, press on your abdomen some when youre standing upright..... See if you feel anything weird, or have any pain when you push.... Hernia's usually hurt, or protrude from the abdomen where you can see it..... Hernia's rarely hide themselves for long, I doubt it's a hernia.....

Thanks prizz...thats some good advice...will try...I suppose if it was a hernia then i wouldnt be able to do heavy squats or would feel the same pain...but i dont...

Yeah man, I mean I know when I do Leg Press I get my knees up in my chest, and it's pretty fucking awkward if you think about it..... It's possible that just the position is pinching your diaphram a bit, and the diaphram is like any muscle..... If you pinch it, or decrease it's blood flow for a bit, it gets a lil weak, so you have trouble breathing...... If youre doing squats with no problem, youre fine.....
