left leg BIGGER than right

My left leg is bigger and more pronounced than my right, pisses me off. I am righty as well, but my right knee hurts bad when doin legs, so i probably favor my right and use more my left. How can i even them out bringing my right leg up to its potential. I do single extensions but it doesnt seem to do it. Any help would be appreciated. Thankx
 
Have you tryed lunges? Why is your knee hurting so bad? Have you hurt it in the past or is you form bad. I have two bad knees and no problem with doing squats dead and lunges. I had problems with doing squats untill a guy helped me with my form.
 
I tried lunges not religiously though. My knee kills dont know why. Even when walkin up stairs before doin legs i have to warm my knee up for like 15 mins and i still favore the other. When and got an x ray which showed nothin the doc said to stop doin squats, extensions, etc. i told him to forget about it. Its like right under the knee cap feels like somethin rubbing together
 
Well if I was you I would go to a doc that speclizes in knees and ankles. I forgot what thet are called. I really don't think an xray will show up torn cartilage or torn ligament. That is what they used and mri on my knee for. They told me that I had a blown mcl torn cartilage and a partially torn acl inmy right knee. I had the surgeies to corect this and I had a new knee in six months. I still had problems with sqautting after the surgey untill I got help with my from. From what you tlod me about your pain I would stop squating and go see a knee doc!! Listen to what he has to say he will be a lot closer then a regular GP. But in my opinion it soung like you have some cartliage issues ethier torn or worn away. How old are you? What sports have you played in the past?
 
If your knee hurts...do NOT do any exercise where your shins lean fwd and put your knees out by your toes. Your shin should be completely up and down...

Box Squats...sitting waaaaaaay back when you do them. Don't do the lunges either...or the leg extensions...or smith machines...

The only time that I feel that the leg extension MIGHT help is for recovery. I often warm my knees up with leg extensions (25lbs for 50 reps) just to get the blood flowing. I also do negative only movements on leg extensions. If my right knee was hurting, I would take the weight up with my left and down with my right...slowly.

You can also try icy hot and NSAID's.
