Leaning out nicely with ALA.

Started taking 1200mg/day of ALA about 3 weeks ago (200mg with each meal), and I'm really suprised with the results. I'm definitely leaner, and I haven't made any dietary changes. Stomach feels a hell of a lot harder, and even my face feels thinner. It's definitely good stuff :).

hehehe nope. ALA is also good for increased insulin sensitivity.
in europe they actually use this to treat some type-II diabetics. ;) just some food for thought

How much were you using? I was taking 600mg/day and didn't notice much untill I bumped it up to 1200mg/day and have 200mg with every meal (300mg with my post workout shake)
 
you know what, you gotta be real careful with ala. it is very sensitive to light and air. it loses potency real quick if your not careful. i think thats why some poeple say it doesnt work. it defintely helps with glucose uptake into the muscle and is a great anti-oxidant.
 
I have the 300mg caps and have been taking 2 caps post workout, then one with lunch and dinner. So the same amount as you. Only reason I know it works is b/c of the smell when I piss
 
I have a cold and been taking ALA to help kill it. ALA has good antioxidant properties. I feel way better so this shit works. I am going to stock up. I was only taking 100-200mg a day, but when I went to 300-400 I noticed a huge difference. I take the Jarrows brand which is very good.

I take 200mg w/post workout meal and that works great. My recovery is awesome.

Mine are in either a solid white or dark brown bottle and they never leave the cabinet except when I need them. When I take them to work, they're in an orange pill bottle but is always in my pocket or my desk drawer. Maybe I'm just too fat right now to notice anything.
 
Same here. This kicks ass. I have been taking like 1500 mgs a day, about 300 before each meal.

Its great.

In fact, I have gone down quite a bit on carbs, stachy carbs, which usually is tough for me, but when doing this while using ALA - its a LOT easier. The carb cravings are like GONE.

I have a mealk with just like hicken and a veggie (like cauliflour, brocolli, beans, etc - not a starchy veggie) and I do NOT get carb cravings later.
 
I am not a biology expert, but I think the key is to have it in yor system right before the glucose gets in there from your food .... and the insulin is released. The way I figure it, eating it a few minute prior to a meal gives it a "head start" of sorts, so the ALA is there before the food and then glucose gets in there.

I may be wrong, but this seems to work for me.

My amazement is that its effect seem to make it much easier for me to eat less carbs. This is great. Plus my blood sugar level seems more like stable. I dunno. So far, so good.
 
Plus, I heard the half-life is quite short, like 30 minutes (?), so you dont want to take it TOO early either.

I could be wrong about some of this, if so, I would like to hear from some experienced and knowledgeable people.
